I know it’s only two games in but this team is deep! So weird cheering for Novak but what a great sub appearance! I think he even got the little flick on Loturi’s goal. Luca is going to be a lot of fun, just need to get him game time as he has played a lot less than some of the other guys over the pandemic.

Midfield and defence are a work in progress but the attack is firing!

Complete domination by Cavalry in that second half. Loturi with the nice finish (that also appeared offside but maybe I'm 2/2 on incorrect calls) and a great run and finish by Simmons as well.

I'm not loving what I see from Luca so far. Seems that his game just isn't suited for this league. Giveaway machine and too many stepovers. Most of the other newcomers look solid, although I'm not sold on Klomp yet either. Particularly impressed with Field, Yao and Selemani.

If Novak got a touch then I’m with you I think Loturi was offside

Luca has been training on his balcony for a year as Tommy said in his presser the other day. He just needs time. He’s confident with both feet and I think could be a real X factor. Mind you I’ve been real excited for him since they signed him over a year ago. I don’t think there’s a player in the league like him

I thought the Norman - Loturi - Di Chiara midfield wasn’t great. So many sloppy passes and unforced turnovers. Most of the chances were created via high press or through the wings. The midfielders just kept giving the ball away… even Simmons was sloppy when he came on. But early days and they’ll get better. But playing Norman and Di Chiara at the same time does seem a little limiting offensively

Edit: in defence of the midfield those three were smothering Atletico whenever they got up the pitch and they did also force a number of turnovers

Lolz, Forge can't even beat Edmonton.

Forge looked bad. Edmonton looked good today. Edmonton probably deserved a draw against Ottawa on the weekend, too.

Not usually one to celebrate anything Edmonton but it feels good to see Forge and their fans squirm.

They definitely don't look the same. Borges and Babouli have combined to do absolutely nothing.

Edmonton's win yesterday was their first in 624 days.

Loving seeing Forge play this pathetically, but unfortunately the first two games don't mean much. The last two games are what really matters.

I would shed no tears to see them play themselves to mid-table.

Feels a bit dirty to say it, but: Edmonton's goals were both really nice. And they looked clearly better than Forge and deserved the win. And the lighter blue kit looks really sharp and less like what a Div 3 men's team picked out of the Umbro catalogue.

OK, I'll rinse off.

GameDay! 5pm vs Wanderers let's get another 3 points. Could be 9 points ahead of Forge by the end of the day.

Edit to add there's a pretty spiffy looking polo for sale today as well.

I used that merchandise credit for season ticket holders, as well as that discount the other day for jackets.... got myself a new 2021 jersey and an 2020 Anthem jacket at half of what it would normally cost me. I'm way too stoked to receive these next week!

Also, I have no idea why I booked a golf game during match day today. I'm an idiot. Oh well, guess in between shots I'll be watching on my phone.

Have to think Cavalry is the clear favourite today. HFX look bad so far, and Cavalry are the most dominant side to start the year. I know the players don't like it, but I'm loving having games twice a week. Hook it to my veins!

Would love to see more Loturi, Kaiser and Yao. Let's get those U21 minutes up before the first two go back to school.

Did anyone figure out the answer to this one? I'm hoping to watch the game at 8pm tonight instead of 5 but I'm guessing that's too quick for OneSoccer to put up the replay?

Well, not much of a game but at least they got a point. Liked Farago, thought he looked confident, really good at claiming crosses. Luca looks like he's starting to get his feet under him, looking better. Can't wait for Mason to play, any idea when his quarantine ends?

Pretty dull game, but after playing 3 games in 6 days with the third coming in the 38 degree weather, it's not the worst. First clean sheet so there's that.

For anyone looking for live soccer, Calgary Foothills, Edmonton Scottish / Angels and Whitecaps U23s will be holding some friendlies next weekend.
