I remember at one point the Flames had the most Clancy winners. Is that still a thing? It's crazy how often a Flame is up for this.
Edit: I skimmed the list of winners really quickly, and it looks like Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Boston are the only 3-time winners (good chance I've missed more though). Interesting that it's 3 western Canadian cities and Boston. Go Backlund! (Also how funny is it that "Alberta hates everyone!" has both of its NHL teams with the most wins of the award for charity and community service.)

So this award "goes to the player who best exemplifies leadership qualities on and off the ice"
Maybe, just maybe, he should be named captain.

I assume you're also implying nurse should be captain of the oilers since Mcdavid does not exemplify leadership on and off the ice

Flames' winners: McDonald, Nieuwendyk, Iginla (all of our "torch-bearing" captains, except for one...)
How crazy is it that Giordano won the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award which spans the entire world of sports, yet has never won a Clancy?
Quote:
Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award
The Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award is given to an athlete whose continuous, demonstrated leadership has created a measured positive impact on their community through sports. The candidate must embrace the core principals that Muhammad Ali embodied so well, including confidence, conviction, dedication, giving and respect.
Formally called the Sports Humanitarian of the Year Award, it was renamed in 2017 to honor the legacy of Muhammad Ali's impact on society.

Not sure why an Oiler is nominated for this award. You have the two highest scoring players in the league habitually get knocked out of the playoffs, because their team lacks general leadership.

Said it before but Backs has been one of my favourite Flames over the last decade. Have had the pleasure of meeting him a handful of times in random places and he remembered me each time.
Hands down one of the most humble people I've ever met. He really should have the C next year.

Nurse? What the hell were they watching?
Did they think they were voting for his sister?

So we just gonna abandon the "asset management" strategy two weeks into Conny's tenure?
Backs just had his best season. He isn't going to improve on it. Sell him while you can.

Probably because he's doing endorsements for Chopped Leaf instead of a fried food or Donut chain.
Seeing that Canadian teams get this award a lot...probably why guys prefer the U.S. don't need to do this off ice stuff.

Cousin, Sister, Niece...I dont know the Nurse Family-Tree, but whoever is saying that Nurse exemplifies 'Leadership Qualities' is clearly high.

The concern is not his play, he will be a valuable asset on any team the challenge is his age and his potential contract demands. I’d argue he has more value to the flames than what you’d receive via trade… just not at a price tag of what he makes now.

Sarah (hockey) is his cousin. Kia (basketball) is his sister.

Going to need a breakdown on Nurse because at first glance that makes no sense.
Also, wouldn't that undermine Connor being the greatest leader of all time if that was actually Nurse in Edmonton?

Whoa! Ouch!!! Jeebus!!! If this is your issue for him being nominated, why drag the sister part in?

You are the one mentioned the family tree, and when people question that you get all out of joint?
