It should be cold enough barring something really unusual. I saw an outdoor game in Croatia back in 2009 and it was 30C out. The ice got pretty crappy, but they made it through the game. Even in an El Nino year, I doubt the end of October would be warmer than 15C.

They're designed around the host city, not the host team.

Look at the previous Heritage Classic logos. They're generic Maple Leaf graphics with an illustration of the city or something related to the city, like wheat on the Regina one. Just from looking at the logos, you wouldn't have any idea which teams were playing in it (other than assuming the host city's team will be in the game).

The same is true for the Winter Classic and Stadium Series logos. They use imagery related to the host city/stadium but the colours are either neutral or a combination of the colours of the two teams playing.

This is a straight-up Oilers logo. It would be fine if they only sold the merchandise and promoted the game to the local market, but they put these things as patches on the teams' jerseys, and that will look horrendous on the Flames' jersey.

Edmonton doesn’t exactly have a noticeable skyline to put on the patch. Come to think of it they don’t really have anything “Edmonton” to put on it.

This doesn't really sound fun to me. It will likely be a special event involving the Flames where the large majority of the coverage is spent on hyping up their rivals and their team culture that is very unlikable. I would rather have it against the Canucks, or the Jets, or the Habs. Basically any American team would be fine too. This just seems like it will be annoying.

They could have put the Legislature Building dome on it since it's the Battle of Alberta.

Winnipeg doesn't have much of a skyline either, so they put the bridge on theirs. Edmonton loves to talk about their river valley, and they have a bridge you see in a lot of the photos.

The Regina and Hamilton games dropped the city skyline motif from their logos and just went with a couple sprigs of wheat for Regina and some rivets for Hamilton.

Spoiler!

Went to the first one in Edmonton in 2003. Atmosphere was neat, but we froze our asses off and probably spent as much time crammed into the small, heated concourse as we did in our seats.

Game was tough to see from the lower bowl, near the end zone. The best part was when Don Cherry walked across the field. The whole place erupted.

The color pallette for the logo is almost identical to a secondary logo they used from the mid 90s to mid 2000s. Wonder if there will be a copper color uniform they wear that was rumored to be a third jersey, all those years back.

I just got my pre sale pass code from the Flames. It looks like resale tickets are already available to purchase now.

Anyone’s presale code already active? The email I got said that it would be active on 8th June, Thursday.

I’m guessing the pre-pre-sale code probably went to the Oilers STH.

Looks like there is a max dollar value that can be spent per account in the pre-sale. That’s a fair limitation. Gives a chance to more people to buy the tickets
