My guess is he wouldn't be in the squad for those low level games. Doubt Becks would make the trip either.

Yeah it's not really even close. Zlatlan and Keane were decent and Keane played a number of good years and scored a lot of goals, but they were further in the twilight of the careers (don't forget Rooney), but not really huge draws when on the road.

Guys like Swienstiger faded into oblivion.

Messi will dominate.

I think it's just for a couple years, raises the MLS profile leading into the 2026 WC, and he gets, like Beckham did, wined, dined and 69ed by the US media and gets his brand grown even bigger with sponsors, and signs a final year in Barca.

I realize the level in Lige1 isn't the same, but hard to say he "wasn't great".

Lionel Messi's announcement that he plans to take his talents to South Beach sent prices for Inter Miami tickets on the secondary market into the stratosphere on Wednesday as fans clamored for a chance to see the Argentine great play on U.S. soil.

The lowest price for a ticket for that game on Tuesday was a mere $29, but on Wednesday the price rocketed to $329 -- a 1,034% jump -- according to TickPick.

On Vivid Seats, the average price of a ticket to the game with Cruz Azul rose 205%, from $122 on Sunday to 373 on Wednesday.

Inter Miami's road games that saw the biggest jump in prices included the team's visit to the New York Red Bulls on Aug. 26 (1,236% increase) and their trip to Southern California to face LAFC on Sept. 3 (420% increase), TickPick said.

The MLS is such a weird league, imagine being another team and helping to pay for Messi to play against you. Such a fake league.

It's the North American way.

We don't even call them sports clubs. We call them franchises, because that's what they are. The league (NBA, NFL, NHL etc) is a company with 30ish franchises just like a Tim Hortons or a Burger King.

yeah I was going to say, it's not like that's different in the NFL, NHL, NBA and so on. It just feels a bit weird in football because you compare it to the European structure, which is completely different in every single aspect.

TBH I didn't pay attention as much in 22-23 but should have realized he was on great form for coming in and out of the World Cup.

I was thinking 21-22 when I believe the stats had him as good but not himself.

I called ticket master without even knowing when miami play when I saw the news and it turns out they dont even play this year

MLS does home and away vs their own conference and then 4 home and away matchups with other conference

So he may not ever play here if they arent matched up next year

Hope it's at least whitecaps or seattle, I'd make the drive to see him just to have done it once in my life, have Ronaldo already in a premier league game, but messi would be special

Hes at Madrid this summer or next

Him and Vini together running at backlines is going to be terrifying

A core of Vini, Mbappe, Bellingham. Valverde, Camavinga, and Tchouaméni is so far ahead of anyone else

Former Barcelona player Dani Alves will remain in prison after a Spanish court on Monday denied his request to be freed on bail while a sexual assault accusation against him is investigated.

The Barcelona court rejected the Brazilian's petition because of a flight risk despite Alves' lawyers stating their client would accept any court-imposed measures, such as turning in his passports and wearing a tracking device, if freed on bail.

Looks like Spain isnt letting him out of the clink.

He should leave because clearly he doesn't want to play for PSG.

They should just sell him to Madrid and be done with it.

their egos won't allow it. Remember when there were rumours about Barcelona wanting Verratti and they made him do a "I love Paris" hostage video? Then activated Neymars release clause in retaliation?

They are petulant children who think the world is out to get them because their "new money" is threatening the traditional big clubs ... losing Mbappe to Real would probably feel like a humiliating loss to them. They'll probably make Kylian the mayor of Paris before agreeing to sell him.

It's also pretty nice to be able to potentially lose a €150 million+ player for nothing and simply not care because money is irrelevant. You can play brinksmanship games in ways other clubs simply can't. But I still suspect they will fold here, they got very lucky he even re-upped to begin with to allow them a second chance to avoid losing him for nothing. Even for a club who DGAF about money they still need some semblance of financial responsibility for FFP appearances sake.
