With the success of Pearson, Bass was going to get DFA’d at some point anyway. He hasn’t pitched in a single leverage situation since the playoffs last year. Now, he’s just made it more unlikely that he gets picked up on waivers.

The guy is a walking embodiment of "Jesus Christ, just stop talking"
He did a dumb. Team covered for him. He doubled down on the dumb. Team face palmed. He tripled down on dumb. Bye bye job.

I hope San Fran claims him. That would be poetic.

And replaced with Mitch White. Oof. I just have no confidence in that guy.

If White only pitches at the frequency Bass was then it's not going to move the needle.

If White can eat 3 innings every five days, that would be really valuable without Manoah in the rotation. He doesn’t need to be great (or even very good) to be an asset.

White has been getting clobbered in AAA. Hopefully they shelter him to start at least.

Any mention of an injury to Pearson? He hasn't pitched since Sunday. If he was healthy you'd think last night's high leverage situation that Garcia pitched would've been perfect for him. I'm slightly worried.

I think they are saving Pearson for potential bulk work with a Kikuchi and a bullpen/Francis day. Both games will significantly strain the bullpen and I don’t think they want Richards going multiple innings if he is getting more leverage work.

This makes a lot of sense. I was wondering about Garcia coming in during high leverage yesterday, but you’re totally right. Basically all of Mayza, Richards, Pearson and Cimber are rested. Romano likely unavailable today.

Jeez, reading the comments (I know, I know) on all of the Blue Jays' social media posts you would think Bass was an All Star and not a very mediocre 35 year-old reliever who gets used sparingly and now has a track record of being an off field distraction.
