So does this new tour somehow give guys like Rory and Tiger their hundreds of millions? Not seeing how that would work.
I don't think they're expecting much, as Rory hinted at. Basically suggested those that didn't defect should be compensated but admitting he couldn't see how or why they'd do it.

He said discussions need to be had so I think he is expecting something.
Those guys were integral in the PGA keeping it's top position and essentially winning this big payday.
Especially if Monahan wants him & Tiger to keep backing him up, they might need some think envelopes slid their way.
The question becomes where does that stop. Does anyone beyond those 2 get anything?

I agree. I thought that Rory would be outraged, but when he wasn't it makes me realise that's because he's getting paid.

Oh he is/was pissed off, as were the majority of PGA guys.
However, they are also resigned to the fact there is little they can do about it now.
Had Monahan at least kept guys in the loop that talks were even underway and players input would be considered, that feeling would be greatly subsided. There is still tremendous bitterness against the defectors as well.

"I still hate LIV," McIlroy said. "Like, I hate LIV. I hope it goes away, and I would fully expect that it does. I think that's where the distinction here is. This is the PGA Tour, the DP World Tour and the PIF -- very different from LIV."
"There still has to be consequences to actions," McIlroy said. "The people that left the PGA Tour irreparably harmed this tour, started litigation against it. Like, we can't just welcome them back in. That's not going to happen."
Again though, not much players can truly do without becoming another version of LIV and playing on their own elsewhere.

Yeah my sympathy for professional golfers is basically non existent. But there is really nothing that Rory and the others can do at this point. Their Tour was purchased and they don't have voting rights.
You can tell the only leverage he thinks he has left is to make it as hard as possible for the LIV golfers to rejoin the Tour. Since it seems clear LIV golf will cease to exist after this season. But even that is a "when" not "if" situation.
Actual golf play doesn't register much here, but for the record Conners is tied for the lead at -5 after day 1 at the Canadian Open.
Three other Canucks two back at -3.
Early days, but would be so great to have a Canadian win.
Local amateur from the course I'm looking to join qualified, what an experience that would be.

That’s awesome (to qualify)! A couple guys from my course were out there for qualification’s but didn’t quite make it. I’d imagine it was a huge step up to play that round though, just looking at the scores!
Wonder if Canadians actually feel extra pressure at this tournament? Anyway hopefully Conners can keep his putting together enough to contend on Sunday.

Apparently not Nick Taylor who is having an incredible morning round and has stormed into a tie for the lead at -9; (-7 through 13 holes today.)
Edit, make that outright leader at -10; (-8 through 14 today).
Keep it up!

Man not as promising as it was an hour ago. Conners falling back, looks like Taylor could be in the third to last group tomorrow. Some big names in contention.
