Is it too selfish to ask for a 9-0 ass kickin'? I want them to just destroy the Hawks...

Hopefully we get the same goalie the Oilers got.

I see this as a 5-4 game with multiple lead changes.

I believe Hawks have won 5 of 6 since coach change.

Hawks recently added Rob Cookson as an assistant coach.
He was with the Flames in a similar role for about a decade

First home game after lengthy road trip is always tricky, especially against a bottom feeder with nothing to lose. Hopefully Sutter doesn't allow these guys to fall into the trap.

I think the Flames need to view this as the last game in an 8 game road trip. With only one day between games, it's essentially that anyway. They can reset after this.

IMO, he was the 6th best D.

By a fair margin.

Not surprised at all.

He hadn’t played for 11 games. He made mistakes but Zadorov is the 6th best D man every night

This is getting annoying

We're 6-0-0 with Zadorov out of the lineup

What's the record with Zadorov in?

5-3-5 which while okay in the standings, is still more losses than wins

I have the night off from the hospital, and am looking forward to hanging in the GT with my friends here at CP.

My guys have been playing a little better since firing Colliton, but, StanBo had left an extremely flawed roster. Him getting fired for covering up a team shame was just, but, the guy should have been fired long ago for crappy roster building, even without the Beach, et.al. revelations.

Fleury has settled in some, but, the 'Hawk D is still one of the worst in the league in allowing high danger chances. Murphy, Gustafsson, and S. Jones are flat out liabilities on D. DeHaan is a plumber who can't skate, McCabe (and S. Jones) are turnover machines. C. Jones and Kalnyuk are fresh of IR and haven't settled into roles yet.

Offensively, we have but 3 guys going well. DeBrincat, Kane and Hagel. Dach and Kurahev work hard, but lack consistency. Ice cold and snakebit, Kubalik, Strome (fresh out of Colliton's doghouse) and Toews. Low line plumbers fill the rest of the forward spots, Carpenter is probably the best of them but has hands like a rock. The others, IMO, are only marginal as NHLers, R. Johnson, Hardman, Borgstrom, Entwistle would be ok AHLers but haven't impressed at the NHL level. Gaudette and Khaira get only limited minutes. T.Johnson has been on IR, but hadn't fit in yet.

King has gone 7 D often, with Kane and DeBrincat taking turns double shifting...would not surprise me if this was the case again.

Good luck to you and your guys...agree that this could be a "trap" game for the Flames, but, if you guys get an early score, the 'Hawks won't have enough firepower to come back.

I am confused about your squad, Bread Eater a top scorer? He sell his soul to the devil or something? He always seemed a flat out grinder to me, in passed years.

Catch you all in the GT.

I was pointing out that the team is winning with Sutter’s lineup decisions and that
Valimaki played fair to poorly, last game, IMO.

No need to be annoyed.

I have zero concerns with how Sutter is handling Valimaki. He will turn him into a stud or we will find out he is meh. He needs to just keep working hard on whatever they are telling him to work on and step up when he has his chance. He will mature and run with it or he will wilt.

This analysis is just not up to standard.

I am surprised though, I thought Sutter would take a couple more games to evaluate Valimaki. Maybe it’s a kick for the team to avoid the trap game malaise. Maybe he is just not seeing Valimaki doing the little things that have been requested of him that Sutter keeps talking about. Or maybe he thinks Zadorov will turn in a good performance against his previous team.

The only trouble the Flames have had this season is from teams that managed to keep them off the scoresheet early. The Flames have been able to stifle pretty much every team's offense to this point, it just comes down to the Flames scoring. So if giving up high danger chances is what your D does, Fleury better be ready to stand on his head.

Definitely a trap game, and the Flames will be exhausted (and thus, likely flat offensively). That is the big equalizer for this game.
