Toronto collapses again, still suck.
Were 9 points up on 8th not that long ago and then lost 8 in a row and lost to the Jets last night and are now almost guaranteed not to make the playoffs. This teams epic collapses are laughable and enjoyable as we continue to get the "center of the hockey universe" continually rammed down our throats by the media because they all originate from Toronto. Suck it it Toronto and suck it Leaf fans, losers since 1967!

Dammit! That always happens when I'm not looking.
Where are people finding all these sharks?

Toronto is definitely no good.
However, with each new thread of this same ilk, the awesomeness, and acute wisdom of the original is diminished.
As much as Toronto is no good, I am concerned that this thread is also no good, and I sincerely hope there are no more of them.

How about a new thread title? Something that carries the spirit of a "No Good" thread, but can apply more to an average team like Toronto.
How about:
Toronto? Blegh!

Well I feel this one is pretty deserving given the history of this team, the epic collapse again, and the fact we will still be having them shoved down our throats even after they are mathematically eliminated.

Toronto at the very least had a sniff of the playoffs, and while they choked and choked hard, they're just barely going to miss.
That said, I think thats more a product of the fact that the East has much less parity and is somewhat inferior to the West in that regard.
Now, Toronto isnt good, thats obvious, but they are enjoying a 'Canucks-esque' nosedive-style fall from grace.

Well until Toronto stops being the slam dunk media market it is when it comes to hockey, it's not going to stop. They don't just do it because CBC is broadcasting from there. Any Leafs road game in Canada shows why this still happens.

That makes it even more laughable, no way they should have missed the playoffs given where they were and that roster.

Toronto is such a joke. Mostly because I don't like Toronto, but also because they just don't seem to have "it".
Every one of their big name players have huge issues. Plus their fans are the biggest apologists I've ever seen. Respect because they don't abandon their team like Vancouver, but every year it's "Well these guys are elite and this lineup is great and we've got the best this this and this" followed by "well obviously we need help and we've been missing pieces this whole time and if this was different we'd be great".
Plus, over the course of a season, particular stats gain and lose importance. Any stats that look kindly upon Toronto are great to bring up... until they look poorly upon Toronto, then those stats don't matter.
Toronto, still suck.

I disagree, that roster is hot garbage and they should never have been anywhere near the playoffs.

Exactly strombad, I live in Leaf territory and ever year I have multiple co-workers, friends who truly believe they will win the Cup.

As flames fans we should be rooting FOR Toronto. If Toronto has any measure of success it would mean our current GM still knows how to build a winning team. Obviously Brain Burke is probably not going to be the GM next season but he will still be running the show for the draft and free agency.

Burke did some good things in Toronto:
1. Giving us spare parts for Dion who at the time looked like the real deal,
2. Getting Kessel into Toronto which looked like a major win for the Bruins at the time but now you could argue Toronto won that trade.
3. Getting JVR into Toronto who has looked a lot better than I ever thought he would.
It's Nonis has made some big moves that have ensured Toronto some problems down the road including
Signing Dion through 2021 (7m lol) & Clarkson through 2020 (5.25m LOL)

Carlyle should be given his walkin papers when the season is over. Getting outshot by your opponents on an almost nightly basis is not the way to win hockey games. They were lucky to be where they were before the collapse. Relying on your goaltenders to win you games won't get you to the playoffs!

No, I still don't think you can.
Kessel is one of the best offensive players in the game, but if this season has shown anything it's that offense is the only thing he's got going for him. No toughness, no defensive awareness, no leadership.
If not for Bernier, the Leafs season would have been over a long time ago.
