From the outside, it looks really big but internally it's pretty much a modern building reminding me of a food court. No interesting twists and turns like Crossroads, etc. or any character. The food was pretty bad and overpriced from all the food court vendors.
Lots of meat and sausage vendors, a few unopened stalls. Nothing to write home about yet.

westerners not having to drive to Blackfoot gives it an automatic win, even if it is a cookie cutter market. it will be perpetually busy and I just hope one day the access improves, maybe somehow with completion of the ring road.

It’s basically the same as the original.

Yup, even if it's the same as the current Blackfoot location it's a win for us. 10 minute trip vs 30 minutes across town.

Original, as in the original Currie Barracks location, or same as the current Blackfoot location?

So I imagine the 80 year old selling hot lego for ridiculously low prices won't be moving there.

Maybe not then. I'm in the far north so don't go to either Crossroads or Blackfoot very often, but the description given sounded more like the Crossroads vibe to me than Blackfoot.

Golden Inn Restaurant in Chinatown is closing its doors on August 27: https://globalnews.ca/news/9040948/c...sing-45-years/
Raymond is on CP so he can elaborate if he sees this, but he's quoted in the article:
Quote:
“My parents are in their 70s and 60s, so they’re kind of at that retirement age,” he explained. “Owning a restaurant isn’t easy. So it kind of gives them some time to look forward to the next phase in life and give them some balance.”

I go there every weekend. He's still here. Straight down the hall from the Turkish food place, you'll walk right into his booth from that hallway.

I am hoping this is an unfounded rumour. Like is there anything else besides a reddit post from someone claiming to work there?

TooMe, is closed will only till Aug 24 for their vacation, but still I was traumatized when I rolled up there the other day wanting to satiate my craving for a Coconut Beef Curry Sub.

Man I haven't been to the Glamorgan Bakery for years but I used to work near there, would be sad if it closed.

Went to the new CFM West, kind of disappointed. I thought it would be much bigger with many more new vendors (as hyped by social media). But they are pretty much the same 20 stores as in the Heritage/Blackfoot location selling the same overpriced merchandise, and a giant food court with like 20 stalls selling the same food. We were in and out in like 15 minutes.

As long as they publicize the recipe for the crack cheese buns before they close...

Iconic establishments like Golden Inn and Glamorgan Bakery are closing. The owners are retiring, I get it, but I am surprised they couldn't find a buyer to continue operations. It's not like they are failing businesses.

Aye. Didn't Peters' have a more difficult time than you'd think to find a new buyer for the business?
