good for them. They already have a good foundation in place thanks to all those picks, imagine they'll be back to being a powerhouse in a few years. Not sure Blashill is that good of a coach though, but you can always make a change once the rebuild is done.
I mean this was pretty much confirmed when Yzerman quit. They were just waiting until Tampa and Detroit's seasons were done to announce it. Holland to me, seems like a guy who would want to be in the trenches as a GM. We'll see how long that relationship lasts.
Holland staying on... we'll see i guess...i thought he'd pull a mcphee and move onto Seattle as the impression i got was he was kinda pushed upstairs in order to get Yzerman on board

I dont know man, Holland and Yzerman seem like they've been good friends for a long time. Yzerman left for Tampa to get some experience and cut his teeth while Holland was still doing well, but I imagine this was always the plan.
There must be something in the water in Detroit because I cant imagine why people want to be there.

But I thought it was guaranteed he would jump at the chance to build a team around the GREAT CONNOR? Who could turn away from the incredible chance of working with that Special organization?

When living in Detroit is more attractive than working for That Special Organization you just KNOW things are bad.

This is a good move for the Wings as you can't argue with the success of Yzerman in Tampa Bay. That said it's going to take a few years for him to turn things around.
GM living in sunny Florida managing a relatively young stacked team or Detroit. Flint must put some special chemicals in the drink. Detroit is far from glamourous

Detroit is great when you’re rich. I think people forget that the average person’s experience of a city will never be remotely similar to someone making $1M< per year.

Yzerman kept his home in the Detroit area while in Tampa. He spent over a quarter century in Detroit as a player and breaking into Management. It may not be glamourous to you but its home for him. Building a winner their is his ultimate dream job.
His successor in TB has yet to do anything notable. Basically the team he got from Yzerman in training camp. We shall see how they do with Yzerman no longer driving the ship.
