Shouldn't Kucherov be number one in Johnny's year?

Sorry, didn't see the by position part.

What a great idea for a thread, thank you

For me, these lists really put into perspective how much draft successes (and a bit of luck, thank you Vancouver for taking Jolievi) have contributed to the Flames success. Consistently draft top 5 players in their respective positions, often later in rounds, and you can see why the Flames have a great team this year.

I’m betting Giordano might be tops in the undrafted list as well

How is Kane not tops for 2007? 93pts and second in the league.

Seeing Kucherov drafted immediately after Wotherspoon still hurts me inside.

Could you imagine...

Especially since , if I remember correctly, the flames brass was very interested in Kucherov at that time.

I wonder what made us move off of Kucherov and pick Wotherspoon?

Man 2007 was a pretty weak year for centres (possibly the weakest for a decade), and 2013 seems above average. It's really great to see both Monahan and Lindholm arguably exceeding their draft expectations.

I didn't realize Sam Reinhart has been doing so well this year - for some reason I was under the impression that he was a slight disappointment relative to his draft position (though less so than Bennett), but getting 50 points last year and being on pace of 74 this year is way better than I expected. Hoping that Bennett signs a reasonable contract extension this year then kicks it up a notch too.

DeBrincat, Gustafsson (D), and the resurgence of Toews has turned Chicago right around this year.

If I remember correctly the Flames never moved off of Kucherov. Their hope was to get either him or Gaudreau in Round 4.

I see that Jonathan Toews is on pace to set a new career high in points at the age of 30. He needs only nine more in 19 games.

From what I remember, the Flames had Kucherov and Gaudreau on a side "swing for the fences" list. Once Kucherov was taken, they decided to take Gaudreau with their next available pick.
