I guess they like the chemistry between #7 and #6. Understandable -- they've looked good together. I didn't expect them to look as comfortable as they have, but it's been reassuring.

I wonder if this is a knock on Brodie's confidence being on the 3rd pairing?

Or a confidence booster as Peters trusts him to carry Prout and play without Gio.

I think it's probably been explained to him that they need him to help carry a pairing - especially due to match ups on the road.
Andersson - Prout isn't exactly a quick d-pairing and they have been exposed by other teams in their limited time before.
My guess is when Fantenberg gets in the line up tomorrow night that we see him paired with Andersson, and Brodie back with Gio.

I dont know, he was started on the 3rd pairing not long ago and notched a goal and an assist.
Maybe its just Peters trying to spread the wealth a little.

Doubt Brodie will be played as a third-pairing guy in terms of minutes. He's played a little less lately, but even in the Anaheim game he played three-and-a-half more minutes than Prout. 17:32.

Prout needs a guy there that can move the puck up to the forwards. When Prout gets it, he immediately looks cross ice to Brodie so that Brodie can start the breakout. Its a good move by Peters.

Two pages in and no freakout about Smith starting. Is this CP?

It was expected given his last start against the Islanders and the comment about how his puck handling really affected their forechecking game.

Smith has been playing well lately and he played especially well against the Islanders. What's to freak out about?

Nothing.
With Fantenberg playing tomorrow, I'd also expect to see Lazar in one of these two games.

Again, I agree. It's not a comment about Smith.

I guess it is a good sign no one is freaking out! The feeling seems to be that he is playing well enough to give us a good chance to win! Hope he keeps improving.

I have learned to hate the Islanders.
Lets get in, take two points, make Cal Clutterbuck hurt a little, and get out.
If the Islanders feel the need to score it would be appreciated if they limited all scoring to go through Jordan Eberle.
That is all.

With the bottom 6 playing so well, I'm not sure who would come out for Lazar. Unless there's someone with some bumps and bruises that could use the break.

Predicting another 2-1 win. Czarnik and Gaudreau for the good guys.

Derek Wills said on Will Nault's show this AM that the plan was for Valimaki to play another four or five games in Stockton, and then to recall him. The Heat play five games between 1–10 March. If this is indeed the plan, then I would imagine Valimaki returns to Calgary either on 10 March in time for their three-game homestead beginning with Vegas, or in time for the next game on the 12th v. NJ. That would give him 13–14 games to acclimate at the end of the season.
