regardless of the gauntlet early on (teams they have to play anyways), overall they have it pretty good.

Sure, but by the time they get around to enjoying that they could easily be so far out of the playoff picture that these benefits won't matter.

This is from the 2016-2017 season though, anyone have a graphic for this season?

This always makes me chuckle.
Oiler fans always lament the 'League Conspiracy' not realizing that they may well be right, there is a 'League Conspiracy' but its heavily in their favour.
10 more games against tired teams than games played when tired.

Yeah, the league isn't really hiding the fact they want McDavid in the playoffs rather than in an IIHF game.

Still not going to help.
That Oilers team is wafer thin. Unless Talbot turns on God mode and the spirit of James Norris inhabits Kelfbom's body that team isnt going anywhere near the playoffs.
I will say though, the last time they made the playoffs they received a similar advantage.
If they were to maximize that advantage you're talking about 20 points, it isnt inconceivable but it really depends on where they're at when these games are happening. They might be dead and buried already.

Then the NHL should have altered the rules for teams that have already won the draft lottery.

They did! And the Oilers still won it!
The next NHL Draft Lottery rule change should be that if the Edmonton Oilers win it again while McDavid is still on the team then Bill Daly and Gary Bettman have to hold him down while someone breaks his shins with a crowbar.
And even then...

They got the 1st overall pick because of a rule change designed specifically not to let the Oilers get more 1st overall picks. Their no goodness transcends the rules.

watching TSN or Sportsnet the other day and they were talking about the Oilers getting back to being the most exciting team to watch yet again. they have 1 player you would pay to watch/ These announcers are so quick to anoint them in spite of 3 or 4 rebuilds that have produced crap. so annoying

I'd bet they are in on the conspiracy and this is just a lot of fun for them to go on air and read a teleprompter without cracking up.

WOW, if they lose all of these games, they could be out of it by American Thanksgiving?

Sometimes I'm not sure what I find more enjoyable... the Flames doing well, or the Oilers doing poorly.

Well the Oilers doing poorly is basically 'Money in the Bank' so the Flames really need to step their game up.

I find Flames doing well more enjoyable, when I can't get that, Oilers doing poorly will suffice. But when they are doing poorly while we are doing well, that's icing on the cake.
