And it's not like they didn't look really good at times last year, their problem is consistency and I certainly think you can blame a lot of that on the players being complacent under Wenger. I'm guessing Emery has a pretty blank slate to get rid of deadwood. Chelsea will be in much worse shape if Hazard leaves IMO.

Chelsea has a lot of issues. Top being the fact that Abramovich can’t get a passport and can’t use his visa to work there. It would be a real shame if that club saw him pull his money.

Some other ultra wealthy person or company would buy them for sure, though the stadium financing will take deep pockets or a lot of debt. Definitely have a lot of other issues with their football club though..
I know they just are one of many big clubs doing it, but to me they are just the poster child for everything wrong with the English player development right now. They must be blocking 5-10 guys in their early twenties who should be the pride of a smaller club and playing regularly. And I know they loan some of them out but they end up getting half the games they should and their development is stunted.
England needs to somehow figure out a way to stop the big clubs hoarding and sitting on their most talented prospects and justifying it with this horrible loan system. I look at Loftus-Cheek likely going back there from Palace and think what a shame that situation is. Refused to loan him out and barely played him till he was 22, finally gets a year to play and grows a ton, now likely bringing him back as a bench player. He'll probably get 10-15 starts all year when he could be playing 38 for a premier league club and developing properly. Even if he beats the odds and pushes through it'll probably be to the detriment of another young player who should be playing FT like Barkley. A lot of these guys like him, Abraham, Blackman, Tomori, Clarke-Salter, Palmer, Baker etc should be at Championship or lower level Premier League clubs rather than buried behind a bunch of imports going out on load sporadically in a situation where the club has no interest/investment in letting them make mistakes and mature.

what a piece of business by Leverkusen. Don't get me wrong, Leno is solid. But signing Hradecky for free and selling Leno for €22m is outstanding work.

Its a good bit of business for Arsenal as well, Leno is a good keeper.

Yeah a 26 year old goalkeeper who already is a German International is a good purchase.
Right age to just be entering their prime for a goalie.
Liverpool probably should have been in on that for that price.

They dont seem overly enthused with Mesut Ozil. Its becoming something of a theme.

neither are the German fans. And it's not surprising either, the guy disappears more often than Houdini.
Calling Leno a German international is also quite the stretch. Sure, he should have made the WC squad as the 3rd goalie over Trapp without a doubt in my mind, but that's about it.

Yeah but when you are stuck behind Ter Stegen and Neuer that's still not bad company and a tough national team to crack.
I hate Arsenal but that's a good piece of business for them IMO.

Arsenal will surely have a different look next year. Leno, Lichtsteiner, Sokratis and Torreira (probably) coming in, with Cech (probably), Wilshere and others leaving. I certainly don't see them challenging for top 4, primarily because I don't think Emery is that great. But they look kind of interesting for the first time in a while.
Meanwhile West Ham have shelled out €25m for young French defender Issa Diop from Toulouse. Interesting player, teams like Dortmund and Leipzig apparently had him on the radar for quite some time but balked at the price.

Oh Relax, everyone knows Leno isn’t in Russia.
It’s Loris Karius that’s known the world over.

Happy with Emery's work so far including Wilshere leaving. Heart and soul player, but if we're still relying on him in our midfield, we will never get back to a higher level. At this point, he shouldn't be good enough to start for Arsenal.
Best for both sides that he moves on to somewhere he'll be a sure starter.

Marouane Fellaini has agreed a new contract at Manchester United. The Belgium international – currently on duty at the World Cup – has accepted a revised two-year deal with the English Premier League club, bringing an end to months of uncertainty for both the player and his manager, Jose Mourinho.
