Draft day Bobbles
So according to Complete Hockey News and Darren Dreger:
The flames bobbled filing the trade in time for Jason Zucker, and the deal fell through.
More over,
Wayne Simmonds wouldn't wave his NMC to come to Calgary.
Not the best news to come out of the day thats for sure.

If true, I wonder who gets fired after the season?

Source for both these reports/claims? Or are you just repeating the disputed claims from yesterday?
I asked on Reddit about the Simmonds claim, and a Flyers fan said:
Quote:
Fletcher said yesterday that Simmonds NTC did not play a factor in any possible trades and he did not refuse to waive.
|
And I recapped Dreger's radio hit about the Zucker trade, no confirmation what made it fall through:
Quote:
"I think it was a timing thing. But I haven't gotten through all the details coming out of Calgary. I can tell you that (I didn't talk to Brad Treliving directly) but I was told that he was white hot. So whether that's directed at Minnesota, whether that's directed at something internally, whether that's directed at the league.
Because I can tell you this, (...) there was a logjam, there always is, but there was a jam up at central registry so maybe it was just an issue of the queue being too long. But normally what happens is as long as the trade is filed, they still honour it, you just have to go through the process. We'll dig a little deeper and find out what the backstory is but I know Calgary wasn't pleased at all."
|
If Treliving was mad, it seems like a safer assumption that Minnesota messed the trade up if anything.

Nothing I have read, anywhere, suggests the flames "bobbled" a potential Zucker trade? Where are you getting that from?
If anything, I agree , it sounds like the anger is directed at the wild or the league.
Odd post.

Any word on what the "significant" deal was that the Flames almost made on Sunday night that Maloney referenced?

Any chance you can share some specifics of what the deal might have looked like?

there's a whole thread on it
mostly it comes down to: had a deal in place for Stone but the Sens wanted Valimaki and wouldn't budge. Treliving told them to pound sand

How could a deal be in place if the players hadn’t been agreed upon.

I don’t understand this at all. Flames offered one thing, Senators wanted something different.
I imagine there were dozens of scenarios like this over last few days.
Or are you saying they had agreed on a contract with Stone? I haven’t heard that.

Maybe. But you might be angrier if your own organization made the mistake too.
It’s funny. I’m ok with them standing pat but sure sounds like Flames wanted to make a big deal so they can’t be that happy.

Okayfine, bad choice of words. A deal was very close and down to the final details presumably (and was reported to be very close)

What is with people and takes like this? You have heard everything I and everyone else have heard. The exact details have not been given, but some snippets have. You are free to fill in the blanks as you please. As I have attempted to do. It's all speculation. No, I am not saying a deal was in place with Stone because I wasn't there.

I don't know what Complete Hockey News is but this is what they tweeted
The Calgary Flames and the Minnesota Wild had a deal done to send Jason Zucker to Calgary, per Darren Dreger.
However, something happened in between the deal being agreed to and filing it with Central Registry and it didn’t end up going through.
Which is nothing new from what we already heard, nor does it actually clarify what went wrong and who's fault it was.
This can fit in the existing thread.
