Default RIP Matti Nykänen

http://newsnowfinland.fi/sport/brill...nen-dead-at-55

Sadly Matti Nykänen (the Finnish ski jumping legend) died this morning

It's true that after his successes on the hill, especially in Sarajevo '84 and Calgary '88, that he had some personal issues but that doesn't preclude the fact that he was a national sporting hero and an inspiration to many.

I have a friend that bonded with her father over his jumps. Definitely a sad day.

Sad to hear. Though I was a big Horst Bulau fan, you couldn't help but admire the dominance of the Finns, with Matti the best of the best.
