LOL you are so lost man. Hilarious.

Stats Canada defines it perfectly fine. It's not clear on first reading, but by the 10th or 15th time you should have picked up on it. Again, look at the numbers, it will coincide perfectly with my Venn diagram, and the category definitions.

Yikes. Yeah this is done haha. You done, baby, you done.

Shall we look at "Trucks" on a per capita basis by province?

No, because to prove whatever point Muta was making, it makes more sense to look at them as a percentage of total vehicles sold. We want proportions of vehicle types on the road, not per capita ownership. Which I already did, several pages ago for Alberta and Ontario, feel free to do the rest for your homework tonight. You can even compare the difference it would make between using the "truck" and light truck" categories, and realize the difference is minuscule. Just please, for the love of stats, don't add "trucks" and "light trucks" together, as you will quickly see that by doing that your total will be greater than the total vehicles sold, and that would be embarrassing. And wrong.

Per capita ownership makes sense, considering we need to know the propensity for buying larger vehicles (Trucks in this case), and the percentage of types of vehicles sold will also support the argument.

Would it pain you to see the numbers support Muta's anecdote? I'm going to guess yes

Pain me? I already did it.

Lumps trucks, vans, suv's and minvans, but ok. Alberta is 16% cars, 84% "light trucks" and Ontario is 29% cars, 68% "light trucks."

Yeah I'm going to have to do the rest of the provinces. Alberta and Ontario does not define the whole of Canada, nor simply West vs. East or any other region. Will make sure you see the numbers with provincial populations for 2018.

Good thing you aren't writing papers or a teacher, you forget most of your data!

For a guy who can't even wrap his head around the categories I don't think you should be giving him a hard time about "forgetting most of the data".

Well, he mentioned Ontario, and I assumed Alberta would be the worst offender, and what he meant by "out west". I didn't think it made much sense to carry on with doing every province, since it pretty much addressed his anecdote.

Some stats for digestion ("Cars" vs. "Trucks"), Stats Can data:

https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/pub/...00/pop-eng.htm

https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/t1/tbl1...pid=2010000201

Sales breakdown (total units sold 2018)
(Province: Trucks, Cars):

BC/Territories: 73%, 27%
AB: 84%, 16%
Sask: 86%, 14%
Man: 78%, 22%
Ontario: 71%, 29%
Quebec: 64%, 36%
NB: 74%, 26%
PEI: 69%, 31%
NS: 68%, 32%
NF/L: 75%, 25%

Vehicle Type Units per Capita
(Province: 2018 pop.; Car Units Sold Per Person, Truck Units Sold per Person)

BC/Territories: 4,938,135, 0.013, 0.033
AB: 4,286,134; 0.009, 0.046
Sask: 1,163,925; 0.006, 0.037
Man: 1,338,109; 0.011, 0.040
Ontario: 14,193,384; 0.018, 0.043
Quebec: 8,394,034; 0.020, 0.035
NB: 759,655; 0.014, 0.040
PEI: 152,021; 0.016, 0.035
NS: 953,869; 0.018, 0.037
NF/L: 528,817; 0.014, 0.043

So what can we conclude from the data?

- Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba buy the most trucks in their provinces by vehicle type sold.
- Ontario, Quebec, NB, and NS buy the most passenger cars in their provinces by vehicle type sold.
- Ontario, Quebec, and NS have the highest passenger car units sold per capita
- Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba have the lowest passenger car units sold per capita
- Alberta, Ontario and Newfoundland have the highest truck units sold per capita

Some things to consider:
- no definition for "personal use" vs. commercial use; this is a mixed blend
- no limit on how many cars can be purchased per person, or definition of cars in the household or business
- Territories were combined with BC in Stats Canada numbers
- Does not include data from the secondary/used car market
- Does not include direct foreign and/or used import numbers (from overseas)

I'm going to keep this data, it's great to work with!

Since I have both Rando and Locke on ignore, I am going to assume they trigger-posted drive-bys that don't contribute to the discussion

About as constructive of several pages of a lack of comprehension so complete that someone had to literally draw you a picture.

Either way, I'm thrilled to be on your ignore list, everyone knows how sensible and mature it is to brag about your ignore list. Keep up the good work.
