With Men's hockey, the Canadian teams dominated, but you saw the improvements in the other nations, especially the Russians and the Swedes. I'm not seeing Woman's hockey being taken seriously as an Olympic sport except in Canada and the US.
Frankly, its just not enjoyable or fun to watch until the final.
There are two nations taking it seriously, that's not enough to keep it as an Olympic event.

I think it's unfair to say nobody is taking it seriously. You are looking at a few games. I think COVID has taken its toll with cancelled tournaments. Remember the 2019 World's, Finland beat Canada in the semis and took the US to overtime in the final. Then yesterday they lose by 10.
There are more and more international players in NCAA hockey. Czechs and Japan are the most improved team. Czechs were non existent, only made the top division in 2016, making their Olympic debut here. They can medal here, big game against Japan coming up to win Group B. Again, the format is stupid.
