Once someone decided to film this it was gonna go viral either way it ended.
I just don't buy the ricochet concern. Exceptionally rare. Get closer to the animal, instead of being so scared. It's incapacitated.

I keep a hunting knife in the bottom of the centre consel of my vehicles for this very purpose if i were to hit a deer. And yes, i unfortunately had to do it once to a deer i hit in my work truck.
Ranchers/farmers/rodeo hosts, sadly are tasked with this. They don't run over it like some sort of savage. The guy was scared to get close to management danger, sounds like he's in the right profession.

Wouldn't getting closer just increase the risk of bullet overpenetration?

Potentially, then use the truck as your backdrop. The damn thing is almost docile in it's injured state.

How many injured animals have you been around, they certainly don't become more docile when in pain.

And having a poor backstop in one direction is pointless. There would be no way to know where a ricochet would go or what the angle would be. The cops in York thought they had bystanders at a safe distance when they did this and some guy wound up with a round in his head.
