So a win today drops them 2 draft spots pre-lottery? If they do win hopefully karma finally gives them something for going down fighting and they lock up a lottery spot, but it will be just so 2021 Flames to win a game in late May that absolutely does not matter only to hurt the team lol.

Arizona doesn't get a pick this season.. but I do agree with you:
They will win today and the 11th pick will win the lottery
or
They will lose today and 12th pick will win the lottery

I feel like we are forgetting that third option of winning the lottery but drafting a total bust because of the lost covid season

So what are the permutations with a win/loss with regards to draft position?

Lose in any fashion, they own the 11th-best odds. Win in any fashion, they own the 12th-best odds.

Treliving may say there were no moves to make last offseason to shake up the core but I think it was a massive mistake to not make significant changes after losing 3 straight to Dallas to exit the bubble last year.
It is one of the reasons I am not convinced he will survive beyond this season

Having watched all this stuff unfold for a few weeks, I honestly wonder if we would have seen more kids play if the media didn't keep asking him about it.
He really seems to be annoyed these days. Might be doing the opposite of what the media is clamouring for.

Do we get 11th pick or 12th pick... let's waste 3 hours watching to find out.

I don't know ...
There was a lot of smoke in the air around moves that didn't happen. They very may not have happened because:
a) ownership didn't approve of the moves
b) ownership agreed that they weren't getting enough for their assets
if that's the case they are very much in the loop as to why there weren't any changes last off season.

Given the precedent set with the Devils who were included in the draft lottery in 2014 ( https://www.nhl.com/news/2014-nhl-dr...esday/c-714727), the Flames would actually have less chance to win the lottery if they go to OT this game regardless of win.
Plus they would fall below Arizona in the subsequent rounds.

At least Phillips is getting a game in.

I thought we were running with the "it's a bad year to win the 1st overall" narrative. Save your luck for the next two drafts.
I bet Canuck fans are running that too. They've been complaining about being shafted for the 1st overall since their inception. It'd be funny if they win it in a bad year and are also fan pressured into taking Luke Hughes.

Ya its bad enough watching this group in isolation, but man after taking in a few of the playoff games south of the border you realize just how far behind the good teams the Flames really are.

If he's actually resorting to this kind of stuff then the Flames are in worse trouble than we thought. The whole grumpy pants act is getting really old.

So is all the people complaining about a Stanley Cup winning coach after half a Covid season with a roster we all know needs changes.
