Well I would say why can't we have both? I loved a movie like Aquaman which I know is dumb fun but I also loved a movie like Ghost Story which is more art house and features a 8 minute scene with a woman eating a pie and it breaks your heart. Cinema doesn't have to be one thing. And it's not like this is a new thing, in the past all the big blockbusters I wouldn't consider art house films. Films like Independence Day, ET, Avatar all just really good films but not really elevated cinema.
I have a confession. I watched most of Man of Steel again the other night and I didn't hate it this time. The ending is still terrible as is the death of Pa Kent and the casting of Amy Adams.
What I noticed this time around is what a good job Henry Cavill did. Much better than I remembered. Fishburne and Martha Kent, too. I think I may have a soft spot for this movie now.

The Man of Steel really suffers from it's time. The colour palette is so "teal" and full of lens flare that I find it difficult to watch.
I've always wanted to write a Jor-El story and send it to WB, just so they could see what a goldmine of character development they keep sidestepping with the character.
The best part of Man of Steel was that Russell Crow was playing the character as a villain.

Feel shame young man. Feel shame. That movie was terrible.
You said you like 'most of it?' Did you just fast-forward two-thirds of it? Because that would make a lot of sense, there was a lot of filler in that movie. There was probably a solid 45 minutes of just punching.

You should take a look at the book "Last Days of Krypton" by Kevin J Anderson. It's an excellent look at Krypton and Jor-El and the events that lead up to the destruction of the planet.

That girl krytonion soldier, I forget her name, did a great job chewing scenery in that movie.
I thought that Cavill did a great job in the movie, and finally we had a city destroying battle between Super Hero's which I've always said has pulled me out of other super hero movies.

I would seriously prefer a Perry White standalone show. At least Samuel L. Jackson has some acting chops! I know its Laurence Fishburne
They'd have to be nuts to go with Eisenberg's Luthor. The title picture does show him, but the article doesn't mention Eisenberg as being confirmed in any way...
I can just imagine the horror if watching him feed candy to other people for two hours.
