I'm trying to get into Schitt's Creek. Season 1 just isn't that good IMO. There are some mild chuckles but largely forgettable. I have heard it gets better, and it must with all the awards it won this past year. I hope it does.

That's funny, I didn't buy in episode one but I felt it only got better from there.
Season 2 i definitely more rounded out and funnier, but my goodness does it ever get good later on.
One of the few shows out there that has an ending that is very good. And left me wanting more.
So many great characters, but David and Alexis are two of my all time favourite TV characters now.

I have a hard time sticking with it because of Chris Elliott. He is unpleasant and off-putting, and not in a funny way, but in a way that reduces my enjoyment of the entire show.
Chris Elliott is no good.

He gets better as the series goes on, and has less of a prominent role.

What's the mom's name on Schitt's Creek? Her overacting ruins the show for me. I muscled through most of season one, but I can't go on as she makes me physically cringe.

I loved that show. Not even just for the fact it was filmed here, I thought it was a really great show.
It kind of flies under the radar considering the cast it had.
I even bumped into Anson Mount and Common during the filming.

I'm liking it and it hasn't dropped off like others do after 4 seasons, so definitely gets a lot of credit for that. I just know it wouldn't be for everyone. Fantastic representation of our countryside.

For me it just ticked off a lot boxes. You have a principle character that you really like and become invested in, a revenge story, a history story that moves a lot, historical context, good villains...especially The Swede.
It was great.
It was my Sunday night tradition for a while. Come home after softball and watch Game of Thrones and/or Hell on Wheels.

If you're into Hell on Wheels and haven't watched it yet I would recommend Turn: Washington's Spies. Another overlooked AMC gem.

Much appreciated. I also have to try Deadwood. I could listen to Ian McShane read the phonebook. That man is a gem.

I feel the same way. This show needs far less of him as he’s neither funny nor interesting. His wife is a funny character, I like her.
Was he in Something about Mary? Seems like he is playing a similar character but that guy actually drew some laughs.

Haha. If someone told me a poster on CP had issues with one of Canada’s greatest ever actresses I would have immediately guessed Sliver.

If you’re talking comedic actresses, yes.

It's not a LOL kind of comedy. But it's quirky and charming enough to binge watch once in a while if you stick with it. I'm on S4 and it's decent enough. Started out not liking any of the characters that much (especially Alexis) but over that span I like most of them. I like Roland even though others here don't. Bob is the funniest IMO.
Overall pretty decent show, although I've yet to see how it won best comedy. That might be in the later seasons.

That's John Hemphill. A longtime Canadian TV actor and SCTV alum (although only as a bit player). I first recognized him on Maniac Mansion as Harry the Fly. This was that weird Joe Flaherty family show.
For me, Bob's jog into every scene absolutely kills me. Every. Single. Time.
