I usually buy it from Co-op although they we out of stock the last time I was at Dalhousie. Superstore also carries it and puts it on sale from time to time. My Italian friend turned me on to the Zenato Amarone but based on this thread I'm going to try the Masi I have downstairs a try.
I saw a 1 Litre Masi Amarone today at Zyn downtown. Might have to pick that up for the Oilers game Saturday.
We should really stop talking about Amarone in general. The word is going to get out and the Apothic crowd will start buying up our supply.
Picked up a bottle of Zenato at Coop today, and the sommelier was a bit sniffy because it was a "new method" Amarone, but we both loved it. Thanks for the tip. Ordering a case or two from zyn.ca who have it for $36. It was $52 at Coop. Thanks for the recommendation!

Vintage Port possesses extraordinary power, with deep fruit, spice, and chocolate. Full bodied with integrated tannin, vintage Port needs a powerful cheese to stand up to its strength. Anything mellow or subtle may get brushed aside.
Blue cheeses such as Stilton, Roquefort, Gorgonzola and Fourme d’Ambert are the classic candidates, but a well-aged, powerful cheddar can also work well. Terrific additions to the cheese board can make all the difference to the vinous pairing. Red grapes, dried red and black fruit and walnuts will add an extra dimension to a Port and blue cheese pairing.
Tawny Ports change flavour profile depending on their age; at 10, 20 and 30 years old. The traditional 20 year-old version, which I will focus on, is usually sweeter with secondary characters coming to the fore. It is a superb alternative to other sweet dessert wines, such as Madeira or late harvest Riesling and Tokaji.
Mellow, rich and nutty, Tawny Port can be served slightly chilled and marries impressively well with salty, dry, hard cheeses, such as Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan), cheddar, Comté and Pecorino.
Port is the best. Such good value. It and PX sherry are my two favourite Portuguese wines and deliver great quality for price. Good with sweet foods. I really enjoy port with dates, especially if ruby.

19 Crimes from Costco goes extremely well with striploins and caesar salad.
I regularly enjoy this wine.
The crazy part of now living in US, where the tax burden is less, is you will regularly find this wine priced at $9.
I may be developing a problem.

Ahh... scrap the maybe part.
You can get great California wines at Costco there for $8-20. One of my all-time favourites is the Duckhorn Zinfandel, which I believe was $10 ... I think I still have a bottle I brought back.
