Flames’ disappointing start exposes worrying trends

The Flames, having already endured a seven-game losing streak this season, failed to register a shot or generate any meaningful offensive zone time over that final stretch with the extra skater, losing 3-2.#

Exceptional goaltending aside, that sequence was a microcosm of Calgary’s#season. They#were slower than the opposition, out of sync, didn’t penetrate scoring areas, and ultimately couldn’t deliver in a high-leverage moment.

Matthew Tkachuk returns to Alberta as a Florida Panther

The NHL schedule-maker did its best to minimize the drama of a Tkachuk return. The Panthers play two Alberta road games in two nights. First, in Edmonton, where Tkachuk was Public Enemy No. 1 for six seasons. Then the Panthers are in the Saddledome on Tuesday, a place where Tkachuk was a hero.

Blasty Night!

Losing in OT to Edmonton won’t sit well with Tkachuk, despite him having 2 points in that game. Flames need to be ready for him tonight, he is on one hell of a pace (119 points over 82 games). Hopefully the Flames can slow him down tonight. Hopefully the new lines click and somebody gets going.

Can’t ask for a better situation with Florida having played the night before.

9 goals?

Are we playing them 6 times?

A bit of positivity that probably dies down as the day progresses

He's always injured or he may have just saw the Alberta forecast and came up with one.

As for this game? 5-2 Florida because we just aren't very good.

I guess Florida could be either angry or tired. Or both.

I'm certain Markstrom will get the start tonight, hope the Blasty gear gives him a boost.

Must win. If they lose to a depleted Florida team that played the night before it’s time to re-focus and set sights on Bedard.

Day to day. It's possible he comes back tonight, but I wouldn't bet on it.
