I enjoy the CFL. But I think we're approaching the point where a lot of things need to quickly fall into place in order for there to be a season this year.
I also wonder if closing the book on 2020 and starting fresh with a new CFL in 2021 might be better long term for the league. Might mean losing a franchise along the way (looking at you Toronto), but that might not be a bad thing in the long run?

it would certainly appear that if there are games this year, it will be in a hub city. Thus we will be watching no games live in calgary. any idea when the Stamps are going to reach out and refund the money that we have paid for our season tickets?

With growing optimism that the CFL and Players Association are closing in on an amended CBA, football operations staff are being informed & beginning to prepare for a possible 2020 season, according to TSN's Farhan Lalji.
“Sept 14 players will begin traveling to Winnipeg." one team’s internal communications sent out, "You will have to pass a COVID test, twice over a six day period to be allowed into the bubble. After the six day quarantine in Winnipeg training camp will start."

Are they still thinking of playing a six game regular season followed by a 8 team playoff format? That's going to take us deep into December if my math is even close.

Voted for Kodos

Yeah, 2 weeks of training camp takes them to Thanksgiving, then 6 weeks after that would make the playoffs start in December. Grey cup would be just before Christmas.

They should have done this in Toronto or Vancouver as December football in Winnipeg is not going to be fun for the players at all.

I'm assuming Tre will try to latch onto another NFL team first, but I sure wouldn't mind seeing him back with the Stamps again.

Didn't he have some problems with the Stampeders not releasing him earlier so he could go on the NFL route?
Or was that another player? Either way would love to have Tre back.

That was Tre -- they eventually released him from his contract, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were hard feelings. That said, I'm sure he'll get some more NFL interest but will obviously need to get healthy first.
Nate Holley was the other guy -- I think he's still under contract this year although that may not mean much if there is no season...

The Chicago Bears have placed defensive back Tre Roberson on the team’s reserve/non-football injury list.
Roberson was waived Tuesday with a non-football injury designation and passed through the 24-hour period unclaimed, which allowed general manager Ryan Pace to stash the talented cover man while he heals from a broken foot. The 27-year-old suffered the setback while training for the 2020 NFL season.

I also read today that the feds did offer the league a loan but at a pretty high interest rate which would likely put the league in worse shape than they are currently...

I think that's it for the year, The Federal Government offered a loan at a high rate, it might as well have been a payday loan.
They can roll out money through a salad shooter, pay we 43 million dollars, but they won't budge to save a Canadian institution.
I expect that there will be a 2021 season but several of the teams won't make it.

Why can't the CFL go to the big 5 banks and pitch sponsorship deals that involve low interest rate loans?
I suppose even the big banks won't trust the league can repay them...

If this government lets the CFL die I'll hold my nose and vote conservative next time, even if ####ing Jason Kenny is the candidate.
What a disgrace. One of the few remaining Canadian institutions left, and you frankly you said it best.... what else is there to say.

I'm actually surprised that the government wouldn't step in to throw the CFL a bone here.
Justin Trudeau couldn't get in front of the cameras for the Raps championship parades fast enough, and he loves throwing money left right and centre in general, but he and the liberals are unwilling to help out a Canadian sport institution since it doesn't benefit him/them PR wise.

Even give them a no interest Loan. As mentioned theyve done far worse with handouts.
