I thought it was more or less a done deal last week but Shanahan probably wanted to hear others opinions of what to do with the different scenarios that could play out. Surprised it took this long though. I think he's a good candidate, but not great. Not great simply because he likes those long term deals for BS players. In this case he has Shanahan at the top and probably won't be able to do that. So I think he'll do alright with a better core.

That'd be hilarious if Marner and Matthews decided to leave the the Leafs for nothing once their contracts are due and Tre is scrambling and decides to trade for Kadri. Even then, I still can't see Flames winning any trades when dealing with the leaves.
