^Thx man I wish these sites would update with more up to date info. 160 is still small but at least the gap is not as large.

Very different time and very different outcomes. It's arguable who was better. I'd rather have a guy that can contribute on those lower lines David Moss, Adam Pardy, Adam Cracknell than a guy who is destined to stay in the minors their whole career like Phillips, Pettersen, Zavgorodniy, etc. There is a blend you need, and the Flames just seem incapable of finding that blend.

Matthew Phillips is not 5'8. Just watch some video. Pelletier is 5'9 and towers over Phillips. This is a lineup card adjustment, plain and simple. You can't hide the fact that guys are small through the lineup card. It bubbles to the surface very quickly when the big boys arrive on the scene and the small guy has to play against them.

Yeah what not a lot of people know about hockeyDB is it's run by one guy. And those measurements don't get regularly updated after the first time they get inputted.

Yeah but the NHL has him at 140 for pete's sake.

I should have checked the AHL site though.

No Jiri, you needn't bother. Anyone who has been around sports long enough know how much fudging goes into lineup cards and how much players weigh and their height. Never trust what comes from the lineup cards. They're highly inaccurate depending on the desire of the team in question.

If everyone's height and weight is fudged to the same extent, then we might as well just look at the baseline.

Lol. Lanny, you're talking about Phillips like he's 5'2". He's maybe an inch shorter than Pelletier.

I'll never forget when I was in a pub with Daymond Langkow.
He was listed as 5'11" with the Flames. We walked up to the bar to get a drink at the same time and he was clearly 3 inches shorten than me (I'm 6'0" ... or was)
I would assume Gaudreau was 5'7" and Phillips is something like 5'5". They all cheat ... which is dumb as hell.

Offensively could bring a spark to this team.
Grit Index probably an epic fail lol

I don’t care about grit index as much as effort index. Scorpion you have said on numerous times the guy has a really high effort level and good motor right? I’d be happy with someone just active and involved with skill.

He did lay out some guy with an open ice hit a couple years ago. Not sure how big the other guy was.

What was height and weight of St. Louis and Savard? 2 small guys we had no idea what to do with but someone else did.

Every team has those stories.
That was 20+ years ago with different GMs and different cap systems.
You hope they don't repeat for sure, but every team in the league is trying to make decisions with bubble players. You hope they get it right.
Pittsburgh lost Zahorna to Calgary who has looked in the AHL.

again the league has never been softer
if he isn't getting bowled over nightly in the A (learned how to be elusive and tough enough to absorb hits) then he will be fine in today's nhl
if the oilers and their butter soft players can rack up points in this division then Phillips certainly has a good chance to as well
