At least we've stayed within striking distance after 3 in the first....time for some October magic, just need some solid ABs.

Robbie Ray will likely have the chance to beat his former team to advance tomorrow. He hasn't been all that impressive this season so hopefully he gets wild. But I'm rather discouraged after today.

And it's totally unrelated but the Jays only scored 3 runs in their 2 playoff appearances in 2020. Hang a 0 today and that's 3 runs in their last 3 playoff games. Not good. Not good at all.

While I don’t mean to blame Manoah, I do think the Jays’ hitters would have had a different approach if they weren’t trying to climb out of a hole. Castillo was dominant though.

That could maybe happen for an east coast NFL game I guess as they would still be in tv prime time for the west, and they only play 1 game a week. I don't see why that would work for baseball where they play every day though, that would be torture for the players.

I like their chances against Ray. He gives up lots of home runs and his slider will come in to right handed hitters which might be more hittable than a slider from a righty.

The one thing I don't like about the Jays is they are too heavy with righties. I'd like to have at least one more lefty to mix it up for pitchers.

Against Ray, it’s going to be helpful to have a righty heavy lineup.

I'm a bit skeptical. This team the past two seasons seems to be a little uptight when the pressure is on. The pressure tomorrow may get to Ray a bit but I don't think they're in any advantage. If anything, I think it'll be a fairly even match tomorrow, with Ray likely getting a short leash if things go to 3 or 4 runs by the third inning. That's where I think the Jays may struggle a bit.

In Sept 2021, when the Jays needed a big start from Ray against the Yankees, he turned into a total pumpkin. He could easily do that tomorrow.

Btw, it annoys me when the play by play callers say “they are down to their last strike”…no they aren’t. If they get a hit, guess what? There are three more strikes.

I'm one of the people who doesn't mind Tabler, but when things are going bad I wish they muted his mic. Either cliches or over analysis and he becomes annoying.

May have been mentioned already, but that's the 4th straight playoff game the Jays have been shut out in, going back to game 5 of the 2016 ALCS vs Cleveland. Kind of a shocking stat given that offence.

That’s not correct. While still terrible, Jays lost by scores of 3-1 and 8-2 in the 2020 playoff series versus the Rays.

I live on the West Coast and three of the four games today were over before I got home. Thanks, MLB.

I think it was bad juju having an early game played when us working couldn't even watch. Tomorrow will be different, I'll be watching with some cold beer. All will be right with the world.

Haha sorry, my diehard Jays fan friend texted me that after the game and it shocked me. Why would he say that??

...ok 3 runs combined in the last 4 playoff games. Still oof.

Wish this was a 7 game series as I have a lot more confidence over a larger sample we prevail easily.

It’s really unfortunate that MLB has this 162 game grind, then dink and dunk with 3 & 5 game series to start the playoffs. Just go 7 the whole way, what is the rush?

Agreed. A playoff series that doesn’t go through a teams full starting rotation is just dumb.

Yeah, except the Jays swing at too many balls, which is exactly he recipe for any pitcher's confidence
