Mass shootings have become a daily event in the U.S. It’s becoming “oh well, it’s just another one.” More than 20 people were shot at a sweet 16 birthday party in Dadeville, Alabama, last night. Permit-less carry went into effect in Alabama last year.
Recently the States were averaging almost two mass shoutings a day in 2023. Before long we may see that average of two a day. One day recently there were three or four; another ho-hum. It gets worse with every loosening of gun laws and more ststes are moving that way.
It’s horrifying and it saddens me. Sorry, it’s on my mind as I read the day’s news and a mass shouting is the first story that pops up.

I dislike anything like that, same as I dislike the US doing stuff like that or any other country doing stuff to harm another society or its people. I also dislike populist nationalist rhetoric and movements to whip up anger and blame foreigners or foreign powers for what are domestic challenges, regardless of where that happens.

This is about misinformation in the news media - writ large, one can extend it to both the right and the left (though we all know who puts out the vast majority of fake news) - that facts matters and that you cannot simply push stories like they are news without actual facts.

I would hope any settlement would include a public admission of guilt, maybe a statement on their news every day for a month.

Delaying a trial opening day would indicate some significant settlement talks; but, i would agree that Dominion would want to push this forward. I suspect a jury in this case would award significant damages - more than Fox is prepared to offer to settle.
