Default Summer 2015 Prospect Ranking - Round 15

it's time.

Calgarypuck's 3rd annual Prospect Ranking Poll!

Going with the 25 and under with 65 or less games played at the NHL level which actually works pretty closely with my own rule of thumb of "anyone not too old that hasn't been penciled in".

Therefore Granlund, Ortio and Ferland are still prospects.

Monahan and Gaudreau are young but clearly established and no longer prospects. Bennett may be penciled in but he's only played 12 NHL games and is a prospect.

Culkin again.
He has good size, put up good numbers through his chl career, and looks to have continued that in the ahl scoring at 0.5 ppg prior to being injured.

I realize that people are likely to vote Morrison this round, but could everyone do me a favor and vote Culkin just so I can start voting for someone else?

Been voting Smith for awhile. Seems to be the safest bet to make the NHL in at least some capacity. I still do think Morrison is our 2nd best D prospect after Hickey

Agostino because he finished the year out scoring at will for a couple months. I think the slow start was him adjusting to the AHL and that is what we can expect next year. I see a very strong middle 6 winger here, maybe the new Glencross as soon as 2017?

Thought about Morrison but I'd never even heard of him when we signed him. His limited action looked good but I want to see more. For now I have Culkin ahead of Morrison and will vote for him after Agostino.

Don't see the hype for Smith. Yeah, he's big but I don't see him being more than a Bollig at this level. Not that it's a bad thing, you need 4th line muckers. It's just that I think there are many others that have more potential than him. His ceiling is roughly the same as his floor (4th line/13th F) and that's just not all that exciting for me. His size will get him a lot of auditions but I think he'll always be a guy who will leave you wanting more.

Smith for me. Love big powerforwards. he's like Ferland but 5 inches taller and less developed

please justify these statements. looks like his ceiling would be a 2nd/3rd line powerforward to me. I don't see how his ceiling and floor could possibly be the same thing. His floor would be a non-NHLer unless you think he's a sure bet to make the league.

I can understand the appeal for Smith, but Morrison stepping in right out of college and putting up points in the AHL immediately makes me think he has top 4 upside. I'd like to see a solid year from Smith in the AHL and I'm sure he'll be shooting up the rankings next year.

One reason I'm not over enthusiastic about Morrison is that he only played 10 games in the AHL last season. Yes he looked good but that's too short of a time for me to come to a conclusion. Kulak looked good in his 10 games the season before and ended up in the ECHL this season.

I like Culkin's steady progress so he gets my vote again.

I've been voting for Morrison since round 10. Combination of NHL-readiness, offensive abilities and size. I think he could make Wideman expendable later this season.

Hunter Smith next, then a coin-toss between Culkin & Kulak.
