Aren't they, or has that recently changed?
I've been told in the past that, once the driver is accounted for in all of the actuarial calculations, the actual car and the resulting cost to r&r parts is the biggest factor in individual rates.

A good portion of drivers will only see minor claims or zero claims. So you're pricing for hypothetical loss that may not happen.
And if your ####ty driver in a cheap Honda civic happens to drive into a Lamborghini, it doesn't really matter anymore that the vehicle which their rates are based on is cheap to fix.

Unless things have changed, this isn't true. If you buy any car that is crashed frequently (i.e. anything that a 16 year old male commonly drives) or something that is stolen often (certain pickup trucks are dinged for this), then your rate goes up.
I had one scenario where one vehicle I owned was worth twice as much as the other, but it was cheaper to insure.

It does not, the Veloster N is a refreshingly uncomplicated go-Kart.
It doesn’t even have blind spot detectors - What it does have are automatic headlights, a heated leather steering wheel, and a manually adjusted driver’s seat.
Try to imagine that last sentence read by Jeremy Clarkson.

My other favourite is tactical. That, and military grade, are two of the most annoying buzz words out there.

I have a 2019 Elantra Ultimate that has full adaptive cruise control, it’s listed for $22,990.
On the new side, it depends on the model:
Venue: N/A
Kona: Luxury package, $27,999 MSRP
Tucson: Urban package, $35,549 MSRP
Santa Fe: Essential w/SmartSense $32,449 MSRP
Palisade: Essential AWD, $41,199 MSRP
Ioniq: Ultimate, $32,799 MSRP
Sonata: Preferred, $27,149 MSRP
Elantra: Ultimate, $27,599 MSRP - they may change this on the redesign.

Anyone here own a Mazda CX-9? Test drove one two days ago and really enjoyed it. Just wondering if there are any owners here that want to give me their insights.

So I have no one to blame but myself really. Pulled the trigger on the Wrangler with knowledge of the slight driver side wind leak. I had them replace the door seal rubber thinking that would solve the problem but it’s still there. Not terrible but loud enough to be annoying with the radio off. I can’t fault the dealer, they are trying to be helpful. Thinking I should take it to a body shop for their opinion.
In the meantime I am going to start taping off areas with blue painters tape to see if I can isolate the problem.

It's one step down, but we bought a new CX-5 in June and have been nothing but happy with it. Strong likes are the interior finishes (coming from 8 years of Audis I don't feel like it is much of a step down), advanced safety features and the styling. Handling feels better than the comparables we test drove. I believe the CX-9s all come with the turbo engine, which is a great choice. The tech (nav & entertainment) on ours is a bit dated compared to the CX-30, I'm not sure which generation the CX-9 has. We'd have happily gone CX-9 but we are closing in on empty nest status and wanted to get into a smaller vehicle.

May not be a perfect comparable, but we had a 2011 CX7 for 9 years. We also really liked the interior and mechanically it was rock solid. We put 240K kms on it and only ever had to do minor maintenance and crazy enough, never ended up having to replace the front or back brakes. Two negatives I found were the styling for that particular model didn’t age all that well and it depreciated fairly aggressively, which wasn’t a huge concern as I planned to and did own it for a long time frame. However, if you’re only looking to own for 3-5 years, definitely look into the depreciation piece.

Any reason you couldn't just use a Wi-Fi enabled outdoor plug like a Kasa? Link
Provided you have a WiFi signal where the wall socket is, just use the app to connect it to WiFi, then configure the on/off times.

Spy shot of the new Yaris. Have designers just forgot how to do as front end and grill? This has the look of a face with really angry eyes, and then the weird blocky grill that looks like the tried 100 different things and went with, ah, ####it. It's 4pm on Friday, this'll do. So many bad grills these days.

I don't understand why cars have to be so angry these days in general, but especially so when it comes to little economy cars. Little cars should be fun or quirky or experimental. Nobody takes you seriously anyway when you're small and angry, so you need another angle. More fun small cars with personality (think 500, early Mini, Twingo etc.) please.
