I actually liked it quite a bit and am curious to see how they take it. It had some characters that worked well. Was an abrupt ending to the episode though...

I was actually swearing at that, I thought my PVR had been set wrong.

That was pretty terrible. It's on HBO but is this really a HBO show?

Has anyone been watching the Outsider with Jason Bateman?

I have. Not sure what to make of it. It’s engaging but I also have no idea what’s going on. Each episode keeps piling on the mystery without answering much.

I read the book and it was decent enough. But, it doesn't seem like a show that would be good if you knew what the story was. Is anyone who read the book watching it who can comment?

I'm kind of curious to see where it goes. The first episode just seemed to be setting things up. It is a proper HBO show as far as I know, but there was a pretty obvious cut that looked like a commercial placeholder that confused me.

There have been lots of good shows on HBO that didn't start very interesting. HBO doesn't mind going for slow burn shows, hopefully this turns out decent.

Goddamn just finished Watchmen. Absolutely perfect followup that actually cherishes the source material, without missing the point (like Snyder white washing Rorsarch and turning a parody into the literal character it was parodying). A+, great news that the season will stand alone as a singular story.

I read the book and I still have found the show quite engaging

Is it going to tie in to Castle Rock at some point? It really feels like it should, but I don’t know how it plans to.

I'm giving up on Avenue 5. Just awful to me.

As for McMillions, that was a great first episode. I only know parts of the story, so this is a great deep dive

Yeah, I think I'm done with Ave 5, its just not that interesting and already feels old and tired.

The first episode of McMillions was awesome.

I read the book and have watched 4 episodes of the show.

Like the book things get really intense/exiting right off the hop and the first 2 episodes of the show were excellent. Now in episodes 3/4 things have slowed down considerably with a lot of filler and adding new plot points to the story that weren't in the book.

I'd say the show is solid but I'm not sure how they are going to get 6 more episodes of out of this without really dragging things out. Ben Mendelsohn is awesome though and really carries the entire show. 7.5/10 so far.

I have read The Outsider as well and the series and novel would rank about the same imo- in that 7/10 range maybe? I believe the first 2 episodes were very accurate to the book, but has strayed somewhat in the last few. Am enjoying it for the most part, but it has definitely slowed down way too much, and not sure why- I recall a lot of content left to cover.

I don't think Holly Gibney is the most accurate portrayal of the character seen in 4 of King's novels, and that is probably a good thing- started to find her character a little annoying after the Bill Hodges series. Have not watched Mr Mercedes, but would be curious to see the comparison.

The series is definitely very True Detective/HBOish, which is is close enough to the mood of the book I guess.

I just binged Barry and my god what a great show. I've always liked Bill Hader but after watching Barry - it' clear to me he's one of the best actors in Hollywood. Reminds me of Tom Hanks in terms of the upside of his acting ability - but a guy that started off as a "goofy comic"

Absolutely. Who would have thought that Stefon on SNL would actually be one of the best actors, writers, producers and directors in Hollywood right now. But he's proving it's the case. Going to have to re-watch the whole show before season 3 in April

I've watched the episode "ronny/lily" (Season 2, Episode 5) of Barry like 6 times and I still laugh my ass off every time. What an incredible 30 minutes of television.

More love for Barry. That show is brilliant. If you aren't watching it, you should be.
