I don’t know for sure, but isn’t 338 and Eric Grenier notably poor at this? I thought I remember seeing past predictions and projections from him that weren’t particularly close to the actual outcomes?

Is Eric still with 338? I thought I had heard he left.

"It seems to me there has go to be a better way of identifying at-risk moms and then maybe having them go to a major hospital but we have midwives who are able to have home births and if we can have midwives doing home births, surely we would be able to support more maternity in all of our rural hospitals and so it's seems to me it hinges on not having enough anesthesiologists," Smith said.

Dafuq? "Medical science is not doing good enough on identifying at risk births! I think I could do better. Home births cost the medical system very little, so we should totally aim for that. Oh, and because of that, a shortage of anesthesiologists is the problem."
I do believe we are witnessing a brain in complete meltdown.

There is an anesthesiologist problem in rural Alberta. This means if you need a c-section you need to go to a larger hospital. I have no idea if her statement is correct but that’s how you could have a lack of anesthesiologist shortage driving low risk pregnancies out of smaller Centers because all pregnancies carry risks of something going wrong and needing a c-section.

I don’t know, to be honest—on either point. I gather the idea behind 338 is to be Canada’s fivethirtyeight.com, but as polling aggregators in the US have also discovered, your model can only be as reliable as the underlying data that goes into it.
They are still a pretty useful tool, but it’s important to understand their limitations. And to me it’s almost disingenuous to say that your model is “updated” when it literally has not incorporated a single new piece of data. And when the data is coming in as slowly as it is in Alberta, I wonder how much more useful an “aggregator” is vs just looking at the most recent reliable polling data.
Which is also a guessing game to be honest because that most recent data is not actually that recent.

With that logic, under a private system doctors should prescribe the most profitable drugs/treatment as opposed to the most effective?

How can anyone vote for this idiot.
The province is so messed up that she has a very good chance of winning.

I love Rural Alberta, I think its fascinating, but these people are nuts and have way, way too much Political clout.
Wonderful people...in all senses but Politics.
I made a preposterous joke the other day regarding Bill Gates, 5G and the Lizard-man conspiracy and the guy thought I was serious.

It’s not just rural folk, it’s not even close to that being the issue.
