that was gut wrenching to watch though
damn all these Olympians to have their journey cut short by a tweak or a false start- I get that's high end athletics but still

It might just be me though.

American Runner Helps Competitor to Finish Line After Falling
Quote:
"It was devastating. I'm not going to lie," Jewett, 24, told reporters, according to USA Today. "At the end of the day, I was super frustrated. I was so mad because I felt like I had a chance."
But he also realized that there was something more important than winning in Tokyo that day.
"I learned from all the superhero animations I watch, regardless of how mad you are, you have to be a hero at the end of the day. That was my version of trying to be a hero," he added. "Standing up and showing good character, even if it's my rival or whoever I'm racing. I don't want any bad because that's what hero's do. They show their humanity through who they are. They show that they are good people."

Raj Benjamin broke the previous world record by half a second as well.
The third place guy was 2/100th off the old world record.

the 400M hurdles was insane.
I thought was Warholm was running out of gas, but as the announcers mentioned, he was going too fast, so he had to measure his steps, which gave Benjamin the chance to catch up...
I wonder if Warholm has run the 400M? Seems like he should be pretty good there too

Also, did I hear correctly that not a single hurdle was knocked over for anyone? I think when I flipped over to NBC, I heard that it was a clean race.

In one hear that Swaziland sprinter flinched (and his reaction time was the worst of them all!), and he got booted. I can’t imagine how devastating that would be. Train for 4(5) years, flinch and that’s it. Pretty harsh.

Absolutely astounding performance from Elsabeth Beth.
To do that despite the current state of not just one, but BOTH of her ankles is nothing short of amazing.
Super emotional moment for her

Elsabeth Black finishes 4th in Women's Artistic Beam.
Absolutely remarkable performance to put forth despite the status of her ankles.

The Bouldering in the Men's combined climbing qualifier was fascinating. I was initially skeptical seeing these guys standing around chalking up their hands and brushing the wall but then ended up not being able to take my eyes off it for an hour. The first climbing problem looked impossible and they just got harder from their until you had to hang upside down on the fourth one. The French guy who won blew me away making the first three look so easy before finally failing to reach the last top.

He has made it to the final in the 5000m (5km) and so has fellow canadian teammate Justyn Knight.
