I was looking at him. Could keep the offer to a 2nd in compensation and make it very hard for St. Louis to match it.
With Dube signed the Flames don’t have much risk this summer for retaliation
2 years $3.75 mil? Might be worth it

Well, if it negatively affected his play (which we can all agree on) then why not just give him some rest, especially with the team not in the playoff race? I’m not saying they risked his health by playing, but it’s not unreasonable to say it played a role in delaying his recovery.

I’d love to see the Flames offer sheet Yamamoto to $3 mil on a 1 year deal. That would make things very tight in Edmonton and very hard next summer for them too. If we get him its not a bad add and we should be ok for cap space

Doesn’t sound like the Blues have much cap space for Thomas:

I don’t like a lineup with Gaudreau, Mangiapane, Dube, and Yamamoto. I know skill should always be weighted more than size, but you do need size in the playoffs. Yamamoto does play bigger than what he is, kind of like Byron. I wouldn’t mind the add but the size factor to me would be a bit concerning.
Though, a line of Lucic - Backlund - Yamamoto 3rd line would be pretty good.
I’d still go for Thomas first.

Ottawa has a ton of cap space, those players aren’t going anywhere and other teams know it. Not sure anyone wants to play chicken with Ottawa on offer sheets, they always have cap space and could play like Carolina just did at any given time with anyone.

Probably less to do with what Ottawa is doing but rather the usual hard negotiating by the Tkachuks to get maximum leverage and get to UFA asap.

I suspect that if Montreal doesn't match the KK offer sheet, they immediately trade for Dvorak.
Canes 1st and a prospect going to ARI.

There’s nothing indicating he won’t be ready for the season so no delay in recovery. And while you and I might disagree, the team, especially Sutter, seemed to feel they were in the race right until they sat him.

Yamamoto is a highly overrated player, don’t think we want him

Not sure I'd agree.
If you said there's a good chance he will never top his point per game career best season I'd agree.
But with a successful surgery I think it's likely he rebounds to some degree, and trading him now would potentially be at the absolute low point.
Comes down to what the other team thinks though. If they see a rebound they may pay more now with two years left and with that it's a good move to move him now.
But I don't personally think he's incapable of bouncing back from his last miserable season.

There is a good chance that Holland will self inflict a wound far worse than any offer sheet could anyway!

But the point is, it would make things very difficult for Edmonton.
I'd be fine with it.
But then there also wouldn't be room for Mackey if I'm not mistaken.
