Default Bennett in the Calder Race.

Sam Bennett is now tied for 5th in rookie scoring and is climbing fast. It looks like Panarin is running away with it but call me crazy - I think Bennet will be top 2 if not 1st. Thoughts? Predictions?

I got Panarin in my hockey pool

Even if panarin leads in points you gotta wonder if the fact he has 5 years on Most other guys would lose him some votes.

This is how I see it playing out

1. Panarin
2. Larkin
3. Bennett/Domi

The class of rookies this year is extremely impressive, if he gets nominated that would be incredible. Pretty interesting how everyone had Eichel/McDavid in 1 & 2 and there's a chance neither will make it.

All depends what McDavid does when he returns but he looked like the runaway winner before he got hurt. If Sam can keep up his pace over the last 10 games he has a great chance

In defense of Bennett how many rookies outside of maybe McDavid have been relied on so much? Without Bennett the Flames have really nothing going on offensively outside of Gadreau.

Bennett's not going to win the Calder, and that's OK.

THANK GOD for Bennett, he's the only reason I'm still marking Flames game days on my calendar.

I think Paryako instead of Bennett/Domi.

1. Panarin
2. Paryako
3. Larkin

After these 3 you have Lindberg/Domi/Duclaire/Bennett
That is assuming McDavid doesn't go on tear if he comes back.

Bennett, Monahan, Brodie and Gaudreau.

Only reason to watch this trainwreck.

Panarin has a huge advantage playing with Chicago and Kane. put Bennett on the Hawks with Kane and he's the runaway rookie points leader too.

I doubt Bennett wins it or even gets a nomination. Too many ''big name'' rookies this season. And when you get to play a leading scorer like Patrick Kane and have a pretty similar skillset, you're going to get noticed.

But I don't care if he's nominated or not. Fact is, he's already a huge part of the team and hopefully continues to get better and the years go by. Such a beast already and when he fills out with another 20 lbs of muscle, he's going to be unstoppable. Even now he's one of the few forward to finishes his checks.

I'm looking forward to Draisatl coming back down to earth, because now suddenly all these ''experts'' in the media (outside Doug Mclean) are proclaiming Draisatl to be better due to his hot start. I think Draisatl is a great player, but I think Sam is just on another level when he peaks.

True. So McDavid scoring at a point per game pace was pretty incredible considering his team.

I honestly don't care one way or the other if he gets the Calder, I just hope he has a great season.

It was fun to watch Johnny almost get it last season, but it doesn't change anything about Johnny. (Maybe it got him mad? Who knows)

When it comes to Flames getting individual awards, I'm mostly interested in who will by lifting the Conn Smythe. My bet is Monahan after he absolutely beastmodes all the way to the Cup.

He isn't a rookie. And that is a very offensive nick name.

First, lol at the nickname. Second, Oilers are the Oilers and wasted 37 games last year before sending him down so he doesn't qualify.
