My apologies for starting a thread just to ask a simple question but anyway. I just came into possession of a sweet red pedestal jersey with Jarome's signature in the flaming C. It would be bad form to get it customized with anything other than Iginla's name on the back. But I'd like to see if I can make it unique.
Obviously Iginla wasn't named captain until 2003. But you don't see many Iginla jerseys around with the A on the chest. If I could do that with this jersey, I would, but I don't want to be historically inaccurate.
I'm having a heck of a time figuring out when exactly Iginla was named an alternate captain. But before I get this thing customized with #12 on the back, I figured I'd ask to see if it would be appropriate to get the front all done up, also.
Thanks.

If you wanna make it REAL sweet, forget the ‘A’ and put #24 on the back!

Nah:
1. He signed it with #12
2. I find getting training camp numbers on jerseys years after the fact is kind of lame

So now to be 100% accurate the brand of the jersey is important as to the timing. In 1999-2000 the uniform supplier to the NHL was ProPlayer. Therefore if the jersey was a ProPlayer then letter it up with the "A" if it's CCM then no "A" it is!
Awesome, looks like I'll be able to make this one a bit more unique.
Anyone know where I can get a white NHL2000 jersey patch?

It's a ProPlayer.
Before I do anything to it though I want to 100% confirm that Jarome did in fact wear this jersey with an A on it. I have yet to find any photographic evidence of him being an alternate captain in the pedestal.

I can't find one of him in the pedistal with the 'A' Here's a picture from the 1999-2000 season and there's no 'A'

Was not the pedestal jersey. I got the A put on my jersey before Jarome and I have it other the next style (like the 2004) but had the oversized C

Yep I saw a similar pic on Getty and I looked and Val Bure was wearing the A in another picture from the same game.
Hmm. The plot thickens. Maybe that website was wrong.

Not lying to you Scorp, I have the jersey right here in front of me
Which jersey do you have? The white one with the red C from after the pedestals were retired?
Edit: ah yes I see. Well elite prospects must be wrong then. Either way the NHL2000 patch should help make this one unique even if he wasn't an alt yet.
Thanks for your help all!

Sorry but you are only half right. ProPlayer had the authentic on-ice contract for half of the NHL; CCM had the other half. Both companies made replica jerseys for the entire range of teams. When ProPlayer quickly exited the jersey game CCM got the remainder of the league's authentic on-ice supply contract.
Apologies for the tiny picture but I found the team pic from that year and Jarome is not wearing the A. I know now there's 4 A's handed out and split between home and away games, but I don't remember that being the case back then.
