Here's something to note with the Flames scouting. Since 2015 when Tre had full control of the draft forward
1st round - Tkachuk, Valimaki, Pelletier
All three look like great selections relative to where they were selecting in the draft.
2nd round - Andersson, Kylington, Parsons, Dube
The three position players are all in the NHL and looking like they'll be key contributors in their respective positions for the next few years at a minimum. Parsons has had a rocky few years, but goalies are voodoo.
3rd round - Adam Fox, Ilya Nikolayev
Well, a star rookie with the Rangers and a guy who if he was anything but Russian probably would have went in the top 50 last year look to be great selections in the third.
Beyond
2015 - 3 picks, 5th, 6th, 7th - Best is Mangiapane. Got an NHLer with 1 of the three depth picks.
2016 - 5 picks, 4th, 5th, 2 6th, 7th - Matthew Phillips looking great in the AHL and will probably be in the NHL sooner than later. Tuulola is still around.
2017 - 4 picks - 4th through 7th - Ruzicka is having a decent AHL rookie year. Not the best year.
2018 - 5 picks - 3 X 4th, 6th, 7th - Koumontzis, Petterson, and Zavgorodiny all playing well thus far. Interesting players at a minimum.
2019 - 3 picks - 4th, 5th, 7th - Wolf looks awesome between the pipes. Goalies remain voodoo though.
