post !
Older vets can extend their careers playing in central Europe for a few more years .... Who wouldn't want to do that after making millions.

Surprised he couldn't swing a PTO some place as a veteran character guy when even Brouwer is worth a one-way deal to someone.
Best of luck to Ragin' Stajan in Deutschland.

Damn it...why did Leslie have to mention the leafs in that and first?
Regardless...solid move to go to Europe. Take the family and have an incredible experience.
Good for him.

I respected Stajan the overpaid 4th liner. I did not respect Brouwer the overpaid 4th liner.

I think Stajan was a great example of a team guy. I wish him and his family the very best. Thanks Matt, for everything you gave to the team, the fans and the city.
Because of you, we did win the trade after all.
I hope you find your way back to the city when all is said and done.

I'm extremely surprised if this happens. That seems like a really big move for a new & growing family that loves Calgary. If so, best of luck Staj!

German league is short (about 50 games) that is over in early march, basically a paid winter getaway before their son gets old enough for school

I didn't like Stajan's contract and I'm glad the team has moved on. But what a soldier he was for us. 9 seasons as a Flame. The biggest goal since '04. An absolute pillar in the community. As classy of a family as it gets.
I truly do wish him and his family nothing but the best!

He still wants to play and while 34 years may be long on the tooth in the NHL he's got a lot of the rest of his life to relax and take it easy so I hope he does well and enjoys himself as in his situation he's clearly playing for the love of the game.
