My mom used to work with severely disabled youth back in Lanny's playing days. She still talks about how he would come in and spend time one on one with these kids, and how happy it made all of them, she's been a Lanny fan ever since.

It is common for ribs to break when CPR is being performed. It doesn’t happen in all situations, but it is a normal occurrence that you should be prepared for. So if you find yourself hesitant to perform CPR because you are worried that you might break a rib, be prepared for other options. If you do happen to break a rib, you may quite possibly at the same time save a life.

All the best to Lanny in his recovery.

Thread title needs Lanny as the logo.

So glad to see Lanny is OK. A little scared he is counting on the Flames to keep his blood pressure down. I find they have the opposite effect. Keep on going Lanny you are the best!

Lanny's just always seemed invincible. I dont know if I could take anything bad happening to him.

The great people of the Foothills hospital are fully the reason why my wife is alive today.
The staff of the Tom Baker Cancer center are IMO world class and they give compassion and care over and above what their job requirements ask of them.

The Foothills hospital staff who assisted my wife through her heart surgery and recovery again were world class with professionalism care and compassion.

Many people complain about our-health care system however once you are IN IT and have been properly diagnosed I have seen great things.

Lanny is so correct in stating that foothills has old bones but the staff elevate what is a dated and tired hospital into an amazing facility.

Sounds like he may have had a CABG (bypass surgery) due to him calling them "new pipes" which are new grafts that bypass blockages in the arteries.

Still fit, active and trim for a man in his 70's so a little surprising as well. Hopefully a quick recovery for him.

Glad Lanny is doing okay!

As a young kid he was every young kid's favorite Flame. Playing hockey I remember the coach asking kids what number they wanted and everyone wanted #9 (some disillusioned kids wanted 99... like what Calgarian kid would want that number in the mid 80s?)

Agreed. Foothills NICU is why my three girls were able to join me at the game yesterday.
I agree wholeheartedly. They are amazing.

I know its irrational, but he's just always been there and like you get this feeling that he always will be.

He's Lanny. He sends you. Nobody sends him anywhere.

I was getting pushed in a wheelchair into an operating room (nothing major) and Lanny passed me in a wheelchair of his own and he gave me a wink and the classic thumbs up. We each never said a word to each other. But that has stuck with me to this day and it’s been almost 15 years. Glad he’s on the mend!
