Opelka sent Kyrgios packing in the late match last night - Some controversy in the second set tie-break as Kyrgios thought Opelka touched the net as he followed through on a shot, but the umpire ruled no contact was made. It was very close on review.

they were showing Kyrgios interviews where he said that after the Big 3 are gone, it's up to guys like him to promote and expand the appeal of the sport, because otherwise tennis is boring without his bad boy persona.
well sure, go ahead and add some spice to the tour, but it also sort of helps if you can play more than 1 or 2 matches at a given tournament before crashing out. he was completely derailed by the Opelka non-net touch, which in real time looked close, but upon replay was clearly the right call by the ump.
if you're a winner, sure go ahead and be a badass and go viral with the trash talk, racquet destruction, underhand serves, tweeners, etc. but if you're trying to inherit the mantle of the Big 3 while only appearing in tournaments for the first couple days, maybe video game streaming is a better fit going forward.

As talented as Nick is, you can't get by on talent alone these days. There needs to be a commitment to fitness in order to compete week in and week out. Gill Gross sums it up quite nicely in this youtube video below.
What is he talking about? He'll be 30! (big three have a few more years)
That mantel will be passed to FAA, Musati, Korda and younger.
Even Tsisipas, Ruud and Shapovalov are on the cusp., they'll be the senior citizens of this group

I think it just feels like he's been around so long cause he's always been disproportionately in the tennis news cycle with relation to his results. but he just turned 26 this year and already can't make it through a 5 set match without physically coming apart.
the thing is in all this time, I've never had a non-tennis fan say to me "hey have you heard about this Kyrgios guy? I saw highlights of him doing some crazy stuff on TSN the other day, I think I'm gonna check him out!". if the idea was to reach out and grab new fans, I don't think we can call it a successful campaign up to this point.
