'Cosmos' has OK premiere
http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethe...-premiere.html
Sunday's other premiere, FOX's "Cosmos," pulled in OK ratings on the broadcast network, and as it aired simultaneously on several other channels, its total audience will be somewhat bigger.
FOX: "Cosmos" series premiere (5.8 million, 3.3/5)

Neil is on with Seth Meyers Friday night. I imagine he will be making the rounds to other talk shows too.

Of course it did, theres a fear in me that states that anytime there is a smart T.V. show or one that educates that it lasts about as long as me nailing angelina Jolie.
Yet ######ed dreck like Here comes honey boo boo, or storage wars or dog the bounty hunter last for ever.

I gave myself a concussion with a facepalm after reading some of those comments. Like, come on.

This is why I'm sure this will be a short lived series, at least on network TV. Hopefully Netflix grabs it when FOX inevitably cancels it

I don't think it is meant to be a series. Just a 13 episode mini-series.

It belongs on PBS where people who appreciate these shows can see it.

That tribue to Carl Sagan was fantastic. Don't think I've heard degrasse Tyson share that story before. Great first episode, my mind exploded when all of what we are went into that one rain drop, with thousands of other drops... unimaginable.
I enjoyed the animated pieces too, small thing but the style was pleasing.

I'm just content with the fact that FOX didn't try and dumb it down...LCD type scripting...

It also aired on FX, FXX and the National Geographic Channel. TV has changed quite a bit since the first series of Cosmos ran all those years ago. Yeah we can probably chalk it up to dumb people not watching but there are a plethora of other reasons as well.
Fox and their sister channels can reach more people then PBS, that's not even a question.

I am not sure it was really well promoted by Fox. I only heard about it because NDT's interview aired on CBC. Fox had better slots available for sure - eg) the FG and Simpsons re-run spots.
10pm just seems like a poor time, because I am sure my kids would have found it entertaining had it not been so late.
