Was that Hiller in net or Brodeur?

I don't like this. Now if the States lose, they'll be coming back saying that a Canadian official made the call and cost them the gold. Blah, blah, blah.

Yeah, Ferraro was having a conniption over it, but that was a pretty inconclusive angle. And it was the only angle they showed us, frustratingly enough.
I would have loved to see another angle on the play. It looked like the call on the ice was goal--so wouldn't they have to clearly demonstrate that the puck was NOT in when time expired?

I'm here in the States watching the game on NBC. Ed Olcyk (sp?) is telling them to shoot high on Hiller, and they keep shooting low shots on him. USA better wise up or they could lose. Swiss defense is better than they are given credit for. They are actually a pretty good team to be seeded so low.

The only thing I'll say is they sure didn't take that long to review it. Seems like if that was an NHL review it would've gone on much longer

It's a GOOD call.
When they showed the enhanced camera view on SNET, there was no separation between the puck and the goal-line. We all know that Ray Ferarro is blind and dumb; Loubardias confirmed that the camera view shows that this is a good call.

Yeah, If there was a side view of the net thats the one I'd want to see. No doubt they didn't look at it very long though.

Gotta love commentators who don't clue in that it also "appears" that there is white ice between the crossbar and the goal line as well. The overhead shot only works if the puck is on the ice.

I don't think it matters what the ref called on the ice. Because the green light for the end of the period came on before the goal light, it's no goal unless replay proves otherwise. With the camera not being directly over the goal line it's tough to say, but I don't think it was in until there was 0.0 on the clock.

Just got home from work, turn on the game and saw the last 10 seconds of the 2nd period. Couldn't believe what I saw.

Agree with dissentowner about the overhead angle not being entirely trustworthy, that is a good point.
But that shot they aired of the enhanced "blown-up image" was a little misleading. That frame- yeah, there was no separation. But you go one more frame forward and blow it up, while the clock is still at 0.1, and you can argue there IS separation, and you can see the white between the puck and the goal line. However, Hiller's blocker is blocking the entire puck from being seen.
Still surprised that it was ruled no-goal, especially so quickly. Burke is gonna lose his ish if the USA lose this one. Probably will go ballistic anyways.

it was inconclusive. You couldn't see white between the puck and the goal line (even though Ferraro said you could, even on the close up shot where you clearly could not). Even if you could, the angle of the camera was such that it's still inconclusive with that margin of error.
It went in, no doubt, did it go in the net in time? That we don't know and the call on the ice was the time ran out.
That said, why don't NHL arenas have a camera directly over the goal line?
Wow just showed the world feed, clearly no-goal.

Which strikes me as odd seeing as how they could have conceivably had the entire intermission...

I wrote that before they showed the enhanced view. It was a good call. They just showed it again, even more conclusive.

According to the official clock, time expired before the puck was over the red line. It was an indisputably good call.
