Fair enough.
Definitely a tinge of jealousy as I don't have a good way to offshore my income in a tax haven, but since I would definitely do it if I had the opportunity, it would be quite hypocritical of me to be upset.
Back to regularly scheduled tennis!

hey remember when Raonic moved to Monaco 7 years ago, and we all hated him ever since for giving the middle finger to Canada?
go ahead and look up where most of the top Canadian tennis players live...Milos, Shapo, Genie, Pospisil, etc. and then come back and tell us that they're all giving one giant middle finger to Canada simultaneously across the ocean.
if a Canadian tennis player has the talent and ambition to become the best in the world, then they cannot stay here, period. they need access to the best facilities, coaches, practice partners and average proximity to big events. sure there'll be tax benefits but trying to argue that's the main reason behind moving overseas is just a horrible take.

I always find the tax argument odd. These are extremely wealthy people, I don't think it would matter where they live, they can pay the best tax attorneys and accountants to maximize their earnings. Maybe it's a little easier in Monaco or Luxembourg, but they'd find a way wherever they lived.

Pretty sure when Torts was coaching the Canucks, his residence was Point Roberts which is a little inlet easily accessible from Tsawwassen, BC, but is actually in the States which was obviously done to ease his tax burden.

Milos resides in Monaco. Denis and Genie in the Bahamas. All tax havens.

And earnings for winnings are taxed at the source anyway, so really it's more about saving taxes for contract stuff most likely.

Do you know who else "lives" in Monaco? Novak Djokovic and he certainly would never give the middle finger to Serbia, he is one of the most patriotic players on tour.

I pointed out those other players in my post.
Go ahead and re-read my first post, and come back and tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about.
I don't like it for any of those players. This is just the latest one.

While I'm certainly not going to dispute this point, it's not like Montreal doesn't have its fair share of pretty ladies.

so you did and I missed it, sorry about that. it does mean you prefer all Canadian tennis talent to put themselves at a huge disadvantage compared to their peers, struggle to break into the top 50, and never be a threat at any grand slam tournament...as long as they're paying Canadian taxes.
and yes I'm aware Bianca is the recent exception for now, but just be ready for her to give you the middle finger too when she decides that training and flying out of Thornhill, Ontario just doesn't quite cut it anymore.

50 Cent should take lessons from Bianca on how to throw a first pitch.

Peter Polansky with a nice win and is into the quarter-finals at the ATP Challenger event in Monterrey, Mexico over a young up-and-coming Christopher Eubanks 7-6 7-6.

Ouch. Peter PoLLansky losing his qualifying match 6-4, 3-0 to Darian King.

The new Davis Cup groupings I think have been announced unless I missed it, but Canada is in a group with Italy and the USA. I'm super excited to see the young Canadians winning this group and taking down the USA especially.
Here is a link to the groups
