This is 9 episodes with a total budget around $100 million.

Compare that to Thor: Love & Thunder, which cost $250 million and had a total run time that was shorter than the 2 episodes of TLOU that have aired.

Even though it's one of the most-expensive tv shows ever made, its budget pales in comparison to a big-budget action movie.

Are those production costs only or include salaries as well? Hemsworth, Bale and Portman must garner a significant percentage of that right?

Includes salaries. For this show, Pedro's salary is $600,000 per episode.

There is no way this would be another walking dead. Kirkman wrote walking dead as a never ending story...

and then one day he ended it without notice to any of the comic stores or the distributor. Pretty kyitty move. They even made up fake covers for future issues in the pre-ordering system.....

Oh for sure he did. He just kept on recycling ideas near the end. I must have read the first 16 graphics 5 or 6 times. Never even bothered to read the final 4. I have no idea how it ended. lol

The Zombies did it.

will be interesting to see how they go about structuring season 2 and onwards. Do they jump straight into the second game? I guess they could easily split the second game into two full seasons, there's just so much stuff that they could highlight there if they chose to do so.

and I wouldn't be shocked if Part 3 was already on the horizon by the time they are done covering the second game.

If season 2 is following the story of the second game, unfortunately I think there’s little chance it’s staying in southern Alberta

I think there’s zero risk of that happening

There's no shame in becoming another TWD, considering it was the biggest show on TV for like 7 years and had a major impact on the Georgia film industry and economy.

No. We don't want another TWD, we want something new.

TWD was glacial slow, had so many useless story lines and got sloppy in consistency of zombie capabilities.

Give me a truncated focused story line and I'll gladly take 2 years of great over 8 years of meandering.

The first two episodes of this show are far greater than anything TWD did in its whatever many seasons it went for.

They were willing to make and tell the story that they wanted in the face of internet basement dwellers and old man bigots with the games.

And just like the games, happy to see the massive positive (financial) response to a quality show.

I would assume they would primarily base the show in Vancouver with the BC film industry for part 2 since the story mostly takes place in the Pacific Northwest/Seattle.

I agree very small chance they remain in Alberta

TWD had its moments in the middle part of the show

from terminus to the end of the conflict with the saviors it was pretty watchable, and I tried to hate it

definitely too many undercooked characters with no redeeming qualities and plot dead ends through

& god the spinoffs were horrible. I could hardly watch 10 minutes

hopefully tlou keeps things tight and focused, start to finish

Albertans wanting to experience first-hand the scenes from the big-budget television series The Last of Us — minus the Hollywood stars and deadly fungus — have a new tool at their disposal.

Travel Alberta created an interactive map detailing all the Alberta locations featured in the series, updating the map each week with locations spotted in the latest episode.

"I definitely think a lot of locals and Alberta residents are really proud of having this production, this amazing high-end production come to the province. We're getting lots of comments from locals, lots of support, lots of enthusiasm. Everyone's just really proud."

"In my circle of friends and my staff's circle of friends, we've all definitely noticed kind of a pickup of … people that we know posting a story on Instagram or sharing something online about a local site that was in Calgary and a lot of them have been heritage buildings," Trapow said.

"I think it's a great opportunity to showcase Calgary as a filming destination, and then I think there's going to be some more modern buildings that are going to be featured."
