the explanation was the military just bombed districts that were lost to the infection and/or rebels, hence the destroyed skyscrapers and so on.

Well no wonder it's one of the most expensive productions ever. Within 30 seconds they had to film the scene from Fort Mcleod to Olds to High River?? hahaha

Good stuff. I loved the game, despite not being a huge fan of zombies and scare easily, since the story and characters were so good. The show seems to be on the right track so far. Really liked the aesthetics and world building. Writers made a good use of showing and not telling with the intro getting a lot of exposition out of the way. Acting is great too.

Was tough to watch the prologue knowing what was coming. Liked they spent extra time fleshing things out here. Felt like it did take away from time in the quarantine zone but get why the writers wanted to progress to end this episode at that point in the story. Speaking of the production it's crazy so much effort was put into the set for Boston only to have it feature for half an episode.

Watched the premier again with the wife. She knew nothing about it, and I told her nothing in advance other than it was the big show that was filming here for the last year. She doesn't play video games, doesn't like zombies or scary movies in general, but after one episode she's hooked. Takes a lot of talent to make something appeal to new viewers as strongly as it does to those who played the game

Well that is going to make me look at my commute (Memorial flyover) a little differently going forward.

Were the Indonesia scenes filmed here? So I guess this was the show that wanted all the Asian extras. Damn I should’ve done it.

The car scene looked like it was Chinatown, you could see a blurred +15 in one shot from the back.

Jeez, tonight I realized Anna Torv/Tess also played Mindhunters' best character, Dr. Carr.

It's been a decade since I played the game, and I can't remember if it expanded on how the mushocalypse began, but regardless I'm glad they're opening that part of the story up like in tonight's episode with the Indonesia scene.

I wasn't sure about Ramsey as Ellie last episode, but I bought-in tonight.

Yeah, similar to the first scene of the Episode 1 it was new versus the game. And they were both great additions to the world building. And fills you with dread.

Really enjoying the added stuff that’s giving to us more backstory, absolutely nailing the tone of it. The 4th avenue flyover was impossible to miss and I thought it was just cool seeing something so recognizable but still perfectly adapted to that world. I thought noticing something that obviously would take me out of the show but it didn’t at all.

Bella Ramsey is growing on me quickly, but the zombies making out with people as a replacement for spread via spore really sucks. Not detrimental to my enjoyment as I’m loving everything else, I think it’s just kind of dumb in comparison.

Good episode. Really enjoyed the backstory and hope they continue with more of that. I was pretty giddy during the flyover scene. I paused it numerous times and was able to make out many buildings. Most of the buildings on the left were super imposed and not part of our actual skyline, but almost all the buildings on the right were. I could point out TCPL, Bow Valley Square, Livingston Place, Delta Hotel, Jamieson Place, etc.

There are spoilers in the article here but they talk a little about here and in the podcast. Only if you don't resist/are already infected. You'll get bitten/torn to pieces otherwise like the guy on the first floor.

Spoiler!

But man, those clickers were awesome. Totally nailed the soundscape for them too.

That’s a good explanation for how it works with the in-show logic, it makes sense, I just think it looks dumb and doesn’t make up for the loss of the spore threat for me.

Minor gripe, though.

Agreed that they nailed the clickers, that whole scene was great.
