Mario would easily be the best ice-basketball player in the world. Obviously, ice-basketball would just be called basketball in Canada.

Thus making Mario Lemieux the best basketball player in the world.

Well the report is saying he also wants someone else to be CEO of Tesla as well as Twitter.

https://www.reuters.com/business/aut...eo-2022-11-16/

Quote:
James Murdoch, a Tesla director, said on Wednesday CEO Elon Musk has in the last few months identified someone as a potential successor to head the electric carmaker.

Murdoch, who did not name the potential successor, was testifying in a trial over Musk's 2018 Tesla pay package.

When a plaintiff's lawyer asked him to confirm that Musk has never identified someone as a potential successor CEO, Murdoch said, "He actually has," adding that happened in the "last few months."

The corporatocracy of American democracy begins with an eccentric weirdo who imploded Twitter.

Sounds like I'm playing Syndicate on my old Pentium.

I have no idea what you are saying. The big investment firms (and all other former shareholders) are the ones laughing here. Elon payed $44B on something worth, maybe, $20B in the current market.

He was the part time CEO recently and wasn't tremendous at it. He already runs Block (used to be square). Highly doubt he'd quit to run Twitter again.

Not sure if this is a joke or not, but he doesn't qualify to be a US president based on where he and his parents were born.

Yeah, I'm joking. It just seems like the natural next episode in the TV drama of American politics.

Do you really think Tesla is worth 10 times as much as GM or perhaps its actually massively over valued as so venerable to a downturn?

10x value of GM? never....supposedly makes a profit/yr of 1 billion, only source of revenue (thus far) is advertising which comes and goes like the wind....5x value max or around $5 billion with limited upside.

Anyone that pays $44B for it is an idiot...oh wait.

I'm also curious how Tesla does when the rest of the manufacturer's, including GM, catch up to Tesla in the EV world. They are probably there already. Tesla's market share can really only go down as more and more options are made available. The market will increase, but will that increase in demand be higher than the increase in supply options.

I do think this will have an impact. Tesla had a chance to be positioned as the Apple of EVs - i.e. the cool kids EV. I'm not sure they would have held that position very long because their build quality/attention to detail isn't great - but in the meantime - a lot of the people who would buy the 'cool kids' car are also the same people who might care about what the face of the company is doing.

I think if Tesla can maintain a lead on battery technology, manufacturing and charging they can become the OEM supplier for the premium EV product. That could allow them to maintain market share while other Car manufacturers expand.

Different battery technology is being developed by many different companies, there isn't really anything fundamental that gives Tesla an advantage in this space. They have a good battery in some regards with their new 4680 thoguh it isn't without its issues. But any one of these companies can leapfrog Tesla, and with so many competitors, betting on Tesla to always have the best doesn't make much sense.

Yup, as forward thinking as Tesla is/was, it's never a good thing being "first in" and then somewhat sitting on your existing tech/product line for too long. Allows all of the "others" to learn from your mistakes, steal some ideas/tech, gear up and kick your ass. Just ask Blackberry.

No, I don't think it is worth anything close to that - and I have posted as much many times in the Tesla thread.

I merely replied to the poster that suggested that one of the US makers might buy them - that ain't happening with valuations anywhere near where they are.
