I will never again fly to Hawaii via Vancouver after my last trip. That is a big ass airport to run with a giant suitcase in!
We go to Hawaii every year (minus the couple of years during the pandemic) and last year we did the YYC --> YVR --> HNL with a 2 year old and a six month old. Having to run with their car seat and stroller from the arrival gate to the departure gate with a very short connection time is something I never ever want to deal with again. What a disaster. This year we're going during the "on" season so we have the direct flight (booked for the end of February).
The vacations market is something they've been pushing for a long time. When I was with Swoop we did a great deal of work to get vacations off the ground - both with WestJet vacations and external vacations providers. It'll be interesting to see what they do with Sunwing.

Interesting that there are two flights today that originated in the US that had to be diverted to YYC
A Cessna 700 Citation Longitude with the registration number N831QS that had a departure from SUN heading to SFO and the other one was a Cessna 680A Citation Latitude with the registration number N569QS that had a departure from BFI heading to SCF.
They are both currently parked near each other if you click on the YYC map on flightradar24.com right now.

Those are both NetJets birds, and to divert to a Canadian airport when filed in the US? Seems highly unlikely, I'm guessing it's the flight trackers getting bad info when the flights were planned to come up to YYC originally. I see 831QS has just departed on the way to PSP now.

I think it's time for my annual rant about the design of the international terminal. I'll keep it short though.
- Why does your boarding pass need to be checked THREE times before you get to security? Once before you enter the line. Once when you get to the front of the line. Then once when you get to the security checkpoint and they scan it. I've asked about this several times, and no one knows the answer.
- Why do they constantly change the corrals configuration in the arrivals area at customs? Was the flow of passenger traffic not even considered during the DESIGN stage?
- The sheer number of ramps is absurd and comically stupid.
See you all next year.

Just having flown back from the north, I can laugh at this.
Inuvik, did my boarding pass get checked, or even looked at? No.

Any security at all? No.
haha yeah, I remember thinking the same thing. No security at all until halfway through the journey you need to get off the plane, go through security in Yellowknife, just to get back on the same plane and continue south to Edmonton.
Also, Edmonton to Minneapolis is super helpful. Ever since EIA lost the Chicago route it's been a bit of a gong show getting to places in the US from YEG.
Air Canada adds IAD (Daily) to go head to head with WestJet. Daily (vs 3x weekly for WS) and the flights are timed different (WS AM departure and PM return, AC is PM departure and AM return).
United also adding 2nd IAH daily and second ORD daily.
YEG also snags a 2nd DEN daily which is a nice add for them.

2nd daily to IAH as a descriptor annoys me. I was booked on aeroplan points to Houston for March 24th on AC. They cancel the nonstop, and move me to a connection in Toronto. They refuse to move me to the United direct, so I cancel and book the United nonstop with cash.
A bit later United cancels their direct flight, and rebooks me via Chicago. The only direct flights to IAH March 24th are now on westjet, which is 100% who I'll be booking next time after this BS runaround.
**direct/nonstop used interchangeably as through flights went out with paper tickets everywhere except WN.**
