Yeah, I think Czarnik is as good as gone. He is either traded before opening night, or will be a late cut and dispatched to Stockton.

He should be motivated for camp at least. Talk about playing for your job.

Definitely. I just don’t think he fits. Czarnik was extremely underwhelming last year.

There will be a battle for spots at the bottom of the roster with Dube, Mangiapane, Czarnik, Quine and the PTO’s. If Czarnik is no better than last year then he is definitely in very tough given his salary.

So then the rest of the entire forum should cater to you and who you have on your ignore list? We’re just never allowed to engage with ricardodw because you just can’t disregard other people’s responses? Sounds reasonable. Better yet we should just ban anyone you don’t deem worthy. Cool.

Do we have 6.3M cap space? Or 7.2M?
The Valimaki situation has me confused.

Well, im assuming its the minority of the forum who would like to keep the ever so important discussion the RGI index brings, going.
But yes, cater to my wish of not reading a blocked posters posts please. I wasnt rude, demanding, maybe a little passive in making mention of it. Again, whats the use of an ignore feature if it can be so easily over ridden .
You're the one being deliberately standoffish about it.
As a long serving poster here who has endured far too much RGI, i would like the peace and quiet back i have enjoyed since blocking him.
But hey, keep tell8ng me how to act around here since youre so good at it okay ? K bye.

The Flames presently have $6.3 m of cap space with 13 forwards, seven defensemen, and two goalies on the roster. If necessary, they can exceed the cap by an additional $894,166 because of Juuso Valimaki's placement on LTIR. That can be used toward covering Tkachuk's contract once it is signed, which means that the Flames can carry a $7.2 m cap hit for Tkachuk for the duration Valimaki's injury. If they need to clear additional room, they could choose to start the season with 13 forwards as opposed to 12: sending Czarnik to Stockton would provide an additional $1.0 m of cap relief.
Realistically, the Flames need to clear about $2.0 of room, which I assume they will do through a trade.

Maybe the ducks would take Czarnik and a pick for an AHLer.

The Flames are going to want some room to make adds at the deadline.

So the Flames will have around $7.0 to $7.3 million to sign Tkachuk, unless they move out salary. Looks like it's time for a two year bridge deal. 2 yr x 6.75m/yr.

If Chucky doesn’t want to sign a reasonable contract he can sit and rot all year for all I care.

I hope Bennett has a good start. I think Tkachuk is going to hold out on advice from his Dad. Didn’t Keith hold out with a contract in place at one point?

I agree.
I'm a Flames fan way more than I'm a Tkachuk fan, and Tkachuk at some monstrous AAV doesn't help the Flames long term IMO.

There is nothing wrong with this sentiment, except Chucky is a large part of the Flames success, and him sitting out a year does nothing to help Calgary win now and basically means he'll probably need to be traded for less than what it should be.
And the definition of "reasonable" is largely unknown.
Tkachuk deserves FMV for his services and that seems to be evolving with the Matthews, Aho and Marner deals.

I see the exact opposite. I think Czarnik ends up our 2nd line RW after breaking out this season. My bold prediction for this season.
