So more a coincidence than any type of causation IMO.
I will take a higher shooting percentage over a higher Corsi 100 games out of 100.

I'm not suggesting Lucic is anything close to a long term answer, nor that the shooting % is sustainable.

But I also don't believe shooting % is random.

Does CGY save some cap room if they place Tanev go on Injured reserve?
it's 11-12 days of cap savings (my understanding is it is calculated by days).

Putting someone on LTIR does not create cap space that can be banked. The best way to think of it is space that can be re-used. But it isn't free space

Two ~7 minute clips of Sutters presser. Completely different Darryl than on gamedays. Sounds like Pelletier and Duehr has earned to stay up for a longer period of time

That monster! If I'm Coronato I'm definitely walking now! I would do ten years at Harvard to avoid Sutter altogether.

Am I doing it right? Haha

I hope all the media and exNHLers who trashed Sutter the other night watch this second clip.
They will never comment on it, but, its clear that he didn't backtrack at all and his explanation was clear, honest and logical.

Not a single post from any reporter regarding Sutter's words about Pelletier today. It's mind boggling, really. Francis must be losing his mind after that dramatic article of his

That slob Seravelli is probably crying into his cheeseburger wrapper today too after trying to turn this into a huge deal.

Tanev situation could have been way worse. Glad to here it’s not his surgically repaired shoulder.

Sutter loves Pelletier. Right now, it's a little bit of tough love.

Loved what he had to say about Pelletier, especially where it sounded like he thinks Pelletier might be one of those players who play better at the NHL level than the AHL level.

Not sure if this means he realized he was being a ###### and is making it more clear, or he realized he was misunderstood and is setting it straight ... or the two days are completely unrelated.

Who cares?

Really good news to see he's a pretty big Jakob Pelletier fan.

Unrelated to Sutter or even the Flames but today i learned that "Corsi" is named after Jim Corsi, former Buffalo Sabres goalie coach:

Quote:
The Corsi number was named by Tim Barnes, a financial analyst from Chicago working under the pseudonym Vic Ferrari. He had heard former Buffalo Sabres general manager Darcy Regier talking about shot differential on the radio, and then proceeded to develop a formula to accurately display shot differential. Ferrari originally wanted to name it the Regier number, but he didn't think it sounded right. He then considered calling it the Ruff number after former Buffalo Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff but he didn't think that was appropriate either. Ferrari ended up searching Buffalo Sabres staff, found a picture of Jim Corsi, and chose his name because he liked Corsi's mustache.
Interestingly enough, it had been Jim Corsi who came up with the idea of counting shot attempts:

Quote:
Ferrari had no idea back then, or even during our interview in April (until I told him), that Jim Corsi was actually the individual responsible for measuring a goalie’s workload by counting shots on goal + missed shots + blocked shots and, therefore, Ferrari’s random naming of Corsi turned out to be oh so fortuitous, that Regier wouldn’t have been talking about it if not for Corsi.

“Oh, I had no idea of that,” Ferrari said. “I just liked his moustache.”

Pelletier will be firmly ensconced in the top six by the end of the season.

Yup, you got it lol

The Sutter is hate is how I identify emotional posters with a weak understand of the game. Behind vague critiques, there is nothing of substance and very little in the way of critical reasoning or even basic logic.

"he's too defensively structured"
"he's not letting them be creative"
"he's a meanie"
"they don't look like they're having fun"
"he's lost the room"
"they're tuning him out"
"He doesn't like small players"
"He doesn't like young players"

I don't think it's even that. He's trying to position him to succeed. I know people want him higer right off the bat. But playing with a guy he knows like Duher and the most experienced guy on the team in Lewis - that makes sense to me.

Really good news to see he's a pretty big Jakob Pelletier fan.
He's been less abrasive with the media all week.

My guess is he might have been told that he needs to be a better partner with the media and communications staff here and help a bit more with the Flames brand. Not like every game is a sell out anymore and honestly think the fan base isnt as strong as it once was.

Dont think it's a coincidence John Bean was in his media availability the other day.

And honeslty its good. When he's in a good mood he can be so insightful and engaging, issue is it felt like he would show that once a month before.
